"Now I have joined the ranks of the hundreds of thousands of Americans nationwide for whom this is personal.” So says Doris Matsui, widow of the late Congressman Robert Matsui, on the subject of stem cell research. Matsui announced yesterday that she will run for her late-husbands seat and join California's "Black Widows Caucus" in Congress, which also includes Lois Capps and Mary Bono.

*** Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has set a March 8 primary election and May 3 special election to choose a new congressman for the Democratic-leaning district. The second election will be held only if no candidate wins more than 50 percent of the primary vote.***

Color me confused.

Bush id the first President to support stem cell research funding; he just does not support using tissues from slaughtered innocent babies. No therapeutic intervention has ever resulted from fetal stem cell research.

Sarcasm ON:

But blame Bush; HE killed Matsui.

Sarcasm OFF.

Funny how the widows of deceased Democrat senators and congressmen are entitled to their seats, but if Jeb Bush--probably the best available candidate to replace W--were to run for the presidency, imagine the screams of nepotism that would emanate from the same news writers who treat these familial ambitions so sympathetically and tenderly.

Okay, this bugs the sh*t out of me. I wouldn't expect my husbands company to give me his job, which I am not qualified to do, should ( G*d forbid) anything happen to him.

Do ALL Dem wives have taxpayer-funded jobs in DC? That shouldn't be allowed.

"Now I have joined the ranks of the hundreds of thousands of Americans nationwide for whom this is personal," she said, criticizing Bush's limited federal funding of stem cell experiments" Now it's personal......what was her position on stem cell research before her husband got sick?

Virtually a guaranteed winner.

I think I saw a stat...67 of 68 widows win their dead husbands seat when they run.
