[Randy] Moss to be fined [$10K] for celebration

Randy Moss has been told he will be fined $10,000 for his end-zone celebration, a Vikings source told ESPN's Chris Mortenson on Thursday.

NFL officials would not confirm or deny the report.

Moss caught a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter of the Vikings' 31-17 win over the Packers on Sunday and headed toward the goalpost. He then turned his back to the Lambeau Field crowd, bent over and pantomimed pulling down his pants.

Moss didn't practice with the Vikings on Wednesday because of a sprained right ankle, but he's listed as probable for Sunday's playoff game at Philadelphia.

Sunday night, an NFL spokesman told ESPN's Chris Mortensen: "Randy Moss can expect to be hearing from us."

Paul Harvey said the other day that President Bush's reaction to Randy Moss' "mooning" incident was to appoint him ambassador to France.

Glad someone else agrees.

We need players like Moss to bring some fun back to the game.

>He's a F'n punk hiding his punkassness behind the color of his skin! What a total and complete disgrace to all.<

I don't disagree with that. All to true of many sports today. Take the NBA for example, if not for playing ball, a large number of those guys would be in prison.

Moss is indeed a punk. I suppose that I'm hopelessly old school and think such antics embarass your team. And back in those olden days, your teammates would let you know you were out of line forcefully.

Contrast him to Ben Roethlisberger who, without a lot of fuss, signed over his playoff paycheck to tsunami relief.

I saw it, on an entertainment show a friend and I were watching during dinner.

I thought it was tasteless, crass and stupid ... but essentially harmless, and totally in line with what sports are all about.

A beer company will probably give him a $1m sponsorship deal for it, and that's the way the world works. For sports fans, it's probably the way it should work. Pretty sweet deal, a $10k fine investment gives a $1m contract. He'll be smiling in a few months.

Plus he's a hero in Minnesota ... he gets more cred in the 'hood (you should hear the black radio station in Cincinnati) ... he steals the spotlight from T.O. ... other than that, it was a dumb move on his part.

I heard that when the opposing team loses at that stadium a crowd gathers as their bus is leaving and moons them- Maybe Moss experienced this and was giving it back to them. - I am with you, when I heard this little tidbit on Mon or Tues it changed the picture. I also agree with a former post $10,000 for this prank is a bit much no matter how much you make. I disagree with Moss and Terrell Owens antics but thats life in America.

Only Hillary finds investments like that. We should all be thankful she didn't moon us to get that return. Put that moon in front of us, and our global warming worries would be over.

There was a guy on Hannity and Colmes the other night who has gotten into hot water for the same thing...suggesting that there is something dysfunctional in much of the black community. It isn't racism to point it out, but sincere concern that a community of people not be victimized by their own low expectations of behavior.

Maybe the Cheeseheads had it coing, but he could have waited until after the game when the camera and national audience wasn't looking.

Kind of like "professional wrestling."

Bears fan will be quite upset about this. They would have preferred one of their own had mooned Packer Fan.

You can take the punk out of the ghetto but you can't take the ghetto out of the punk. No big deal, I'm getting used to physically talented bums making our youth think it's cool to be crass. That hair, by the way, is laughable.
