A picket line should have been formed around the USS Cole.

No boats NO BOATS within the perimeter.

Slick willie was trying to show how nice we were.

So first, we ought not to have been in that port.

If we were going to be in the port we had to have it our way.

Our enemies know we will not shoot to kill.

Does the hysterical reaction to women's panties on the heads of terrorists tell you what message we are sending to our enemies.

I don't quibble with the argument that U.S. boats shouldn't have been pulling into Yemen. No argument here.

But, your point that there should have been some sort of perimeter set up around the ship is, IMHO, strictly hindsight. Naval ships have been pulling in to busy ports since the dawn of time, and never has it ever been standard practice to fire on natives that come within some hundreds of yards to the ship.
