That was my paraphrase of something I read on Powerline. Here's the quote:
Mapes's reaction to the knowledge that there was, in fact, no waiting list for pilots during the relevant time period is redolent of bias against President Bush, if not monomania:
Mapes indicated in the April 1999 email that she had been informed that there was no waiting list for President Bush's TexANG unit at the time he entered. She posited the "darkest spin" that then-Colonel Walter Staudt, then in charge of the 147th Fighter Interceptor Group, deliberately kept these spots open "to take in the children of privilege...while maintaining deniability." Mapes told the Panel that she never found any proof for this theory.
Aw, I'd never give up on our friend Brit... I was just a bit disappointed in him in having the Powerline guy on "Special Report" at least two times, seemingly giving full credit to Powerline for exposing CBS and Dan Rather in MemoGate. I followed the now-famous FR threads on Sept 8 and 9, 2004 after Rather's "60 Minutes" piece that night, and saw the whole thing unfold before my eyes, with some brilliant postings by some very astute FReepers. Powerline picked up the FR postings later... the timeline is clear.
I'm watching the "Special Report" replay now also, and taping it for Zelig (who is fast asleep) to watch tomorrow. Dutchy told me the FR 'blurb' was announced by Brit around 6:30pm ET.
BTTT to find this tomorrow!
I think Brit's comments about FR are coming up right after the break!
Anyone get it?
Did you see that the graphic said "Credit where credit is due?"
Ha! That was the first sentence of my email to him!

BEAUTIFUL!!
LOL........you are so bad!
Here is my email to Brit today:
Subject: Here is the thread that FIRST FOUND the CBS documents were fake.
Credit where credit is due; posters at FR started the original thread on Free Republic so we could WATCH the CBS show and comment it on it in real time.

If you read the replies IN ORDER, as I have compiled them, you will see it was US, not Powerline that discovered the problems with the documents and the statements.
Furthermore, people at Free Republic email all the blogs during the night; that's how they "woke up" or "came to work" and found email advising them of the problems.
I'm not trying to be crabby about it, but I'm tired of people taking credit for our work; we started at 8:19 p.m. EST the night before any of them even mentioned it in the blogs the next morning!

Whats the text at the bottom saying about Hillary being in Canada?
Ha! That was the first sentence of my email to him!
Whoa! ;-D
Excellent work, Howlin!
Woo hoo!!!
Way to go!!
I think that the MSM is simply scared of us to the point that they're trying to avoid mentioning us in order to not draw attention to FR. As Rush says, "If you simply ignore it, it'll go away. But you draw attention to it and everyone will go and see what the hubbub is about."
The MSM is attempting to keep the few conservatives that don't know about us unable to organize. They know of our strength in number. And they wish for it not to grow larger than it already is..
However, I believe that it's already too late for them. And we're just gettin' started.
I think the bloggers are trying to take the credit. Yep, that's what I think.
Yep. That too. That would also help the MSM achieve their goals: Treat conservatives like a bunch of mushrooms. Keep 'em in the dark and feed 'em a lot of sh*t.
