I don't think "conservative firebrand" was meant negatively in this case. Two reasons: 1) ACU -- the American Conservative Union -- loves her; and 2) Human Events is her home publication, and they are very good about labeling liberals as "liberals, leftists, far left, etc."

For instance, I don't recall seeing any such labeling of the loonies who threw pies at Ann when she was speaking at that university,such as "liberal crackpots". They don't actually have to be liberal crackpots at that,any guys who would throw pies at the gorgeous Ann Coulter has deep-seated issues,to say the least,no matter his politics. If the MSM were forced to label them in some way, it would probably be "student pranksters" or something equally innocuous.
