"The Passion of The Christ" is the biggest R-rated box-office hit of all time in North America, a global spectacular, its lifetime gross surpassing lesser films (including all the big budget bombs hyped in La-La Land).

Yet, b/c Christian-hating Academy voters are turned off by the movie's depiction on the last hours of Christ, and b/c Mel Gibson is a practicing Christian.....it may not get an Oscar.

Talk about hypocrisy.....Hollywarped's output is gratuitously violent, but it sees fit to criticize the reality of the violence of Christ's death.

Memo to Follywood: The Passion of the Christ is a true story.

Of course when Hollyweirdos load up their films with gratuitous sex and violence, the Academy voters get very thoughtful, and start talking about "artistic meaning."

Hollywarped can go fly a kite. Who needs the faux gilt-painted Oscar of atheists, Christian-haters, humanists, dividers and rumor-mongers?

We, the people, have had it with Hollywarped's endless proselytizing, the continuous brainwashing of audiences without their knowledge or consent. Hollyweirdos engage in Christian-hating, American-hating, and they chip away at Western civilzation, all under the guise of "artistic expression."

Hollywood firmly believes that 24/7 of their sexually salacious and violent TV, movies and music are not harming kids and the culture.

OTOH, they also believe----with the religious fervor of Tammy Faye Baker---- that a single 15-sec commercial will compel tens of millions of Americans into thousands of stores to buy billions of dollars worth of soap, soup, breakfast cereal and cars.

They can't have it both ways.

Good report, thanks. I don't know what to think about Mel's comments – disappointing to say the least.

He has been pitted against Moore in the last few months. They are both film makers. They both were up against controversy, and said "it couldn't be done."

I can't stand Moore, but what Gibson said about having a "strange kinship" isn't alarming. Nor is what he said about his film...liking it, although he did note he didn't agree with everything in it.

It's no secret that he is against the war in Iraq, nor is a big Bush fan, but now people are making him out to be the antichrist because he actually didn't diss Moore at an awards ceremony, where they were both honored.

I find it pathetic, that because he actually was polite in public and did not criticize, or get into a political p*ssing match over the film, he's now a "flaming liberal", in many of the "eyes" of some here on FR. I am disgusted by many of the comments that was said today on some of the other threads, I swear there were times I thought I was reading a thread off the DU.

Sometimes, I think people need to look away from their binoculars (religion on one end, politics on the other) and see the big picture.

The entire thing was taken out of context. If I run across the entire transcript again (on one of the other threads where he got thoroughly flambee'd) of what he said (not just the "yahoo" excerpt), I'll pass it along.

You're totally right. It's probably a good PR on his part, and he sounds nice and polite. I didn't like it when I first read it, but I agree with your point of vew. Good post.

Mel Gibson continues to live his faith.

Our faith calls on us to be charitable and forgiving, even to those who might persecute us.( Though we'd love to start wielding around a nice broad sword, and hack some of these heathens to pieces.)

Being gracious to others is getting to be a lost art, and I have seen others go on the attack here on FR. (excluding my good friends here... ;)) I don't understand it, but continue to pray that God grants us the wisdom to continue to do what is right, even though not popular, and know that these actions will lead us on the path to Heaven.

Many blessings to you all....
