The Marines who walked to the top of Suribachi sustained NO casualties. There was NO battle to get to the top of Suribachi.

I believe you are referring to the Ira Hayes statement that he did not consider himself a hero since 250 of his fellow marines landed on Iwo Jima and 27 walked off - over a 36 day period.
