UPDATED! - Accommodations in DC metropolitan area for Inaugural Ball (links)
January 2, 2005

Boy, you guys really jumped on all the links I posted to the closest hotels and motels to DC for the Inaugural! Many of the hotels no longer have rooms available; so I decided that it was time for me to post an updated thread, for the procrastinators out there.

Note: I checked all of these for two night stays, January 19 and 20:

VIRGINIA:

Quality Hotel Courthouse Plaza - 1200 N. Courthouse Rd. Arlington, VA. - Courthouse Metro 0.3 mi. - Rosslyn Metro 0.7mi. A number of (premium-priced) rooms are presently available, from $280 - $310 per night. Courtesy shuttle available.

Quality Inn Governor - 6650 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA - East Falls Church Metro 1.0 mi. Only a few rooms left, and the rate for these rooms is $107 per night.

Comfort Inn - 5716 Van Dorn St., Alexandria, VA - Van Dorn Metro 1.0 mi. A few rooms are left, from $114.99 to $174.99. Courtesy shuttle (to Metro) is available.

Alexandria Days Inn - 110 S. Bragg St, Alexandria, VA. Has only a few rooms still available, $94.05 per night. Complimentary shuttle to Metro.

MARYLAND:
And again, my Maryland Lodging Editorial Note: I hesitate to list any MD motels, especially Prince Georges County, as MD is full of control-freak liberals who have made it a haven for armed robbers, gangs, and other assorted ne'er do wells. Virginia at least trusts its law-abiding citizens to carry firearms on their persons. Not so in MD. Try to find lodging in VA first - that's this PG county, Maryland native's opinion. But, if you're not skeered a no criminals...

Days Inn College Park - 9137 Baltimore Blvd. College Park, Maryland Just a few rooms available, $89 per night. No online information if they have a courtesy shuttle to the Metro. Please check when you make reservations.

Days Inn Lanham - 9023 Annapolis Rd., Lanham, MD. A few rooms are still available, from $71.10 - $99 per night. Webpage states that Metro is "just minutes away." Caveat emptor. No info if courtesy shuttle to Metro is available. Inquire at motel.

Quality Inn & Suites 7200 Baltimore Blvd., College Park, MD A number of rooms are still available from $99 - $119 per night, and a number of suites are also available from $139 - $209 per night. Metro is 3 blocks (0.3mi) from hotel. (Thank you to Freeper freedom4ever for posting this link on the earlier thread.)

If you haven't already made your hotel reservations for the Inauguration and W2 Ball, please hurry up! Rooms closer-in are getting harder to find.

And if you've found a room at a hotel that I haven't listed here, can you check for room availability for other Freepers and post links here? Thanks! See you at the Ball!

Call me a cheapskate, but I've been to DC many times and never stayed in the city.

The Metro is the best mass transit system I've ever used. I've stayed in New Carrolton or Rockvill, MD or even Alexandria, VA., all which are close to DC and serviced by one Metro line or another.

For me the difference in cost (which is considerable) made the 20-30 minute Metro ride worth it.
