American media. They censored it so we wouldn't lash out against the ME population in the US.

There is no racism in this, I am telling you. Look at this thread. There are pictures of the dead white westerners lining the beaches, naked.

"The baby didn't look dead to me either. The Mother seems at ease."

I would agree.

You are definitely over-reacting on the racism aspect. On needing a warning, you are correct. Our media has sheltered us from stuff like this for so long, why start now? To get a reaction, of course.

I was pretty outraged at the media showing our soldiers being drug around the streets of somalia.

No matter how much you try to picture it, your mind can not conjure up the actual horror of it.

I made the same point today. It makes you realize how incredibly stable this planet is for an undeniably miraculous percentage of time.
Some divine being has certainly set this in motion with intelligence and purpose. It is just too amazing that this sort of thing doesn't happen every week. Just as it's a catastrophe of epic proportions, it's also a miracle of epic proportions that those hit by that water or its destructive force were able to survive.

I wonder if some of the hyper-realistic video games and computer technology in movies, etc. have desensitized us to the reality of danger. Not being a fan of either, upon sight of the first wave that broke over the beach, I would have had me and everyone I was with in full-sprint mode away to high ground. I can't imagine standing there and watching it. Anything that big moves, like a large piece of glacier sheering away and splashing into the ocean, get away. It just isn't a force our puny bodies were meant to bear.

Yes, I thought that map was a bit underestimating. I'd heard Somalia got hit by a couple of tsunamis. Nothing like Sri Lanka, of course.

ocean retreated thousands of meters towards the horizon,

Too bad nobody there had ever heard the story of the killer tidal waves in Alaska in 1964. The description of the ocean receding before rushing in has always stuck in my mind.

Your post made me curious about the Phuket Hospital, so I googled it.

Apparently this little girl is still waiting for someone to get her...it just breaks my heart.

Sophia Michl is 10 years olds. She is German. She looking for her parents, Mr.Norbert and Mrs.Edeltraud Michl.

The Phukett International Hospital has a forum up where people can check in while looking for someone and a section for people to say they are okay.

I didn't have the heart to go through it, but maybe there is something from your friend.

http://www.p-h-u-k-e-t.com/forum/

If you start at the main hospital link, there are links at the bottom that will take you to the forum and also to a listing of hospitalized patients. It looks like it has a list of dead, injured etc.

It's all the MSM's fault!

-They knew about the quake shortly after it happened.

-They have any number of scientific experts available on short notice.

-Their programs are available at all of the resorts and beach areas struck by this disaster.

They could have warned these people within minutes, right at their hotels, yet they did NOTHING!!!
