I was wondering if it were a male instead, if you'd be so gun-ho about it if the requirement would have been for him to get...hair transplant or a hair piece! I know that your comment wasn't directed to me, but if I was in a service / entertainment industry job where appearance mattered, it would be OK with me.
Ditto for a requirement that guys hit the gym on a regular basis.

I agree up to a point, these were requirements established long after the woman was hired, she's been with the company for decades, she actually looks like a nice, motherly type and I don't think any amount of makeup will change that. The employer should have used some common sense, taking into consideration her age, her length of employment, her work performance. What on earth happened to common sense?
