Most of the doctors and nurses in the hospitals in Iraq are Indians. The poor shmucks building the roads there, and cooking for our troops are Indians.
I bet reading the responses on this thread really made you feel like a mental midget.
how about backing those claims up with some proof?

The Indian Government has rejected a US request to send peacekeeping troops to Iraq.

Official reports here suggested that about 75 Indian doctors and support personnel will be deputed to Iraq shortly to run the hospital till it is handed over to the Iraqi Ministry of Health.

Shut the hell up...outsourcing to India from the US accounts for 4 million jobs in India. That's it. Nothing more...nada. Pull the stings my ass!
Umm, that report talks of the Indian govt sending doctors & paramedics. It doesn't talk bout the scores more who left for Iraq on their own initiative. It's like the difference between Official American aid for tsunami & aid from private American organisations & individuals doing it on their own.
oh, can you provide any info on these scores? like a link? or should I accept your statement as fact?

I have no problem in accepting that exact numbers are scratchy, but it's sure over 10,000(& not all of them are janitors & truckers).
PS-nobody's asking you to accept anything.
"Currently, it is estimated that there might be anywhere from 1,200 to 5,000 Indian workers employed throughout Iraq, working in mostly menial jobs. Prewar estimates were as high as 100,000."
In other words, most Indians fled the country...
You must have served with Iraqi immigration, right?
well, no.
it's called an educated guess.
Either that or they are in mass graves.
100k pre-war minus est. still there=lots of missing Indians.
Just curious.
How many american civilians are engaged in reconstruction work in iraq ?
I'm American...not that a pea brain like you deserves a response. Appointed to the United States Merchant Marine Academy by Sen. John Tower of Texas.
You've got that right.
I believe you.
I didn't want to come out and say that they have folks loaded down with cash who will spend it, cuz I didn't know how that would sound (read).
Wow, India HAS come a long way. I am glad to hear this!
Man, this place (FR) never ceases to amaze me in how good a source it is for info!!!
You have a nice Navy.
They came to our ports in Cleveland, Ohio, with the tall ships.
I love your music and your movies.
Yes that wonderful Jim Robinson feature of showing all the posters comments is neat, You know what the person has said before, go figure. Just curious since they are just a click away, Why post them on the thread?
I never understood that either.
Does it mean you posted on the same topic before? Is that breaking a rule? Does it mean you post too much? Too little?
It has come a long way. However, it is so big with so many people that foreign aid never amounted to much. Plus a lot of foreign aid is in the form of loans, which India always repays. As a result, it isn't unusual for India to have net negative foreign aid, spending more money paying back aid loans than what it takes in.
I doubt that having money pour into government helps that country's people. The oil states are the great examples of this. Yes, there is still great poverty in much of India, but the same can be said of Saudi Arabia, and guess which country has better long-range prospects.
India's prime minister talks a lot like one of our moderate Democrats, but he is an econmic realist who undoubtedly knows that foreign aid doesn't really help a country's economy.
