I roomed with a Marine Recon in college. He was a serious threat.
starboard = right
port = left and a not-so-interesting wine
pogey bait = snacks from the gedunk (sp) machine
This is my rifle....this is my aircraft - I'm here for you!!!
I would say that's a good way to put it. I wouldn't mess with them. This will be he's first deployment on a recon team. He plans to re-up sometime after January and after the deployment move over to Force recon for the rest of his time.
I still correct my wife when I tell her to look on her right and she looks to her left,..to look on her other right...
catches her every time.
He was the nicest guy you ever met but strange. He(George) grew up in the Bronx in a rough neighborhood. We lived in an apartment in the hills of NC and George left the door standing wide open at night for air movement. When I asked if it worried him, he pulled a machete from under the mattress.
New York gets a lot of Marines. My son has a lot of expenses equipment, guns and such and I asked him if he locked everything up at LeJeune. He said nobody steals anything at Courthouse Bay where the Recon guys stay. Might be out of fear but I hope it's about honor.
Saved. Printed. And tacked on the wall.
