Divorce seems inevitable, and the obligation it leaves is nearly unbearable. Its aftermath is a sentence of poverty to both parties.
Unless the parties' names are Donald and Ivana Trump, or if they're both celebrities. Some Hollywood types go through spouses the way babies go through diapers, and they seem to do just fine. As for the average Joe, however, I think you're right... divorce can be devastating, both financially and emotionally.
