I was watching CNN's Inside Politics today (no transcript up yet) and they had a panel on - someone from the Washington Post, LA Times (Ron Brownstein) and Time magazine (Karen Tumulty). They were discussing our response to the disaster and the host of the program mentioned that the UN called our response "stingy". Then the panel went on to talk about how we "fumbled" this and were basically AWOL for one day. This just really made my blood boil. What have other countries done? The Brits say over 10,000 of their citizens were on holiday in that area. It's a large tourist area for Europeans. Where's the criticism of the EU and its member nations? And do we really have to play politics at a time like this?
I'm sure the UN will be sending personnel over to Asia to take advantage of women and girls who have lost everything- a little personal touch by the UN.
The US is always walking on egg shells when they need to respond forcefully to the BS from these shameless clowns at the UN- like ask them if their cut on the US contribution was too small.
Tell it to Bush since he seems to be everyone's idol around here...except for the true conservatives on this panel that is..............
I think kofi is stingy. He and his cohorts should cough up some of the billions they scammed off the poor of Iraq.
Really, it sounds like the UN. Kofi stated in a speech at Notre Dame 3 or 4 years ago that we were, in effect, stingy. Something about how LITTLE good we have done in the world given how big and rich we are.
Seriously, take the socialist idea of our riches being redistributed to less affluent here in the US and extrapolate it to a global redistribution of our wealth and you have the plan. Wonder what the so-called elite would think of that. Many of the approving are themselves filthy rich.
vaudine
Bump.
A stingy response is just sending on JDAM to the UN building.
Pardon my French...

I am amazed that people can't get seem to get past their biases in the face of unbelievable human suffering (UN included) and focus on what's truly important. The name calling in this thread is worse than in UN itself. If there was ever a time to find the high road, this is it.
Couldn't happen to a more well-deserving group of crooks.

I have a brother who spouts the same line. I'm over the nausea.
I find this remark by the commie UN as pure B.S. Where was the foreign aide when huricaine Ivan took it's toll on Alabama, Florida and other areas? As far as I am concerned they can go F-themselves, the POS UN idiots. NSNR
If only we would give more money, then they would love us... /sarcasm
You know those MF's like to reach out for that, "American Sugar Tit." They have the philosophy that we are the gift that keeps on giving. We help the very people who want America to fall. I say their day is done!!!! NSNR.
I just heard the Moron on CNN 360, and he said
"we in Rich Countries"
And then said ,01 and .02 of the rich countries go to "INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY"
That is what he called it...
What a Maroon...
Screw The UN, and this Socialist pig can go pound sand.
I agree with the others here.
Go find me the UN press releases pouring Aid and Disaster teams into Florida this year. Or even opne single dollar.
Screw them....
Regards,
Joe
Why do you use this thread to bash Bush? I wondered how long it would take---
It seems like every thing that happens in the world these days that is bad, is Bush's fault, or Rumsfeld's fault, or there is the oldest default "bad guys" in the world, the Jews. Somehow or other, one of the above mentioned will get blasted in every thread---at least it seems like it.
Myself, I just think the world should find out what it would be like to have to get along without American taxpayer's money. I wouldn't send any MONEY--maybe some donated food or clothes, but nothing that is useful to the governments of those countries or the UN.
Well, we can always send the 22% of our UN budget then tell Kofi that we gave it to the Sri Lankans and we will not be contributing to the UN in 2005.
You know what is scary? I heard Dick Morris on a radio show today---he was on to talk about the elections in the Ukraine because he worked for the guy that won today.
The conversation then came to the US election in 2008---and lo and behold, he says that he believes that the Republicans will have a very hard time beating ole Hill/Bill. When asked what kind of president she WILL make, he said that she WILL be the most liberal president since Johnson.
Do you remember the speech she gave in San Fran before this last election when she told the crowd the government WILL take your money from you rich people and redistribute it to the poor---and that's the way she believes!!!
Sounds like what you are referencing the UN and the world wanting the US to do---
God Help Us, Please!!!
That is a fantastic idea!
Bravo, Rich! Major Honorary Tagline!
