Quotes from your link
1) "the Government maintained supervisory control of the recognized religions"
2) "There have been credible reports since 1999 that officials pressured many Hmong and other ethnic minority Protestants in several northwestern provinces as well as many Montagnards in several Central Highland provinces to renounce their faith"
3) "the penal code, as amended in 1997, established penalties for offenses that are defined only vaguely, including "attempting to undermine national unity" by promoting "division between religious believers and non-believers."
4) "In some cases, particularly involving Hmong and Montagnard Protestants and Hoa Hao followers, when authorities charged persons with practicing religion illegally, they used Article 258 of the Penal Code that allowed for jail terms of up to 3 years for "abus(ing) the rights to freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of belief, religion, assembly, association and other democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State."
5) During the period covered by this report, some members of unrecognized religious groups were beaten, arrested, and/or detained by the authorities.

If I read the the Department of State report correctly, people aren't sent to a reeducation camps simply for being a Christian. They are sent there for not being an approved Christian or other religious faith.

If the state appoints the church leaders and dictates what church policies are then its a state church.

Who taught you to excuse the inhumanity and slavery of Communism?

Why are you trying to excuse the clear torture and imprisonment of Vietnamese in this and earlier posts?

Civilian (nonpolitical/non-religious prisoners are NOT tortured and treated that way in Vietnamese (civil crimes) prisons by uniformed Vietnamese soldiers.

Do you think that the USSR's gold and oil and timber exports from Siberia were done by "employees" or "slaves/political prisoners" who were worked to death by the millions from the 1920's through the 1990's?

While working in Little Saigon CA during the 2004 Presidential Campaign helping to register 1,000's of free Vietnamese-Americans to vote, some for the first time ever,

...I was personally blessed to have my fingers placed into the long deep scars to those those who had had their stomachs cut open down to their navels by Communist Vietnamese guards in Re-Education Camps.
"Why did this do this to me?" they all asked me.
"Because they COULD, there was nothing to stop them" was my response.
...This voter registration drive helped Orange County CA become the reddest of red counties in America in 2004. And the drive continues to change the face of this county, giving us the 1st Vietnamese-American to take office as a State Legislator in U.S. History.

Making the biggest difference of all.

My South Vietnamese friend at work, her mother, brothers and sisters, (all just under ten), were sent to the "re-eduation" camp where her father was murdered by the guards. The family were Catholics and were terribly mistreated and nearly starved for two years. By a miracle, they made it to a camp in Thailand and eventually came to the States. They never could bear to think about what they had been through under the North Viet commie "educators."

My friend hardly spoke English when she started as a clerk at our company. Two years later she had her HS degree and then entered college. In far less time than I took, she graduated with honors, went on to get an MBA and helped her family do especially well. She was promoted several times at work and deserved every one.

Again, those are publicity pictures for a movie that were/are being passed around as being the real deal. Faking evidence only cheapens your message.

Of course, as were others. My point is they were not sent there simply because they were Catholic like many want to believe.

Actually these Re-Education Camp Pictures accurately depict the suffering the once Free Vietnamese suffered at the hands of the Communist Vietnamese quite well. Wait till you see them in "living" color in the stunning Vietnamese-American "JOURNEY from the FALL" Motion Picture, as I did in Little Saigon on the 30th Anniversary of the Fall of Saigon.

It just rips your heart out at its beginning to hear world famous Vietnamese actress KIEU CHINH depicting a Saigon Matriarch ...correctly telling her family as Saigon fell that we Americans had ABONDONED them to their coming dreadful fate. And then we too experience that dreadfulness they all endured after losing their Freedom to Godless Communist bullies from the North.

An abandonment caused in the end when WALTER CRONKITE fooled us into leaving the Free Vietnamese behind and Sen. TED KENNEDY then got Congress to cut-off all our funding of the South Vietnamese Military to fight for its own Freedom with.

Just as the Soviet Union, according to now accessible Soviet KGB Files, gave $6 Billion in Military aid to the Communist North for its final solution in the South.

All viewed at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival by Actor ROBERT REDFORD.

The trailer is amazing - thanks for the link. I see that the screenplay is written by someone named Tran -- any relation to the California Assemblyman?

Is this picture released in the U.S. yet?

...which is not yet in general theatrical release, but will be ..especially after it's appearance at the Sundance Film Festival this year.

...Every American should see it and then start to wonder WHY the same people who fooled us into abandoning the Free Vietnamese people to such a dreadful fate long ago...

...are doing all that they can to have us abandon the Free Iraqi people to a similiarly dreadful fate..?

WITH OUR OWN FREEDOM DIRECTLY AT STAKE HERE AT HOME..????
