"Oh goodie. Your taxes will triple in about 10 years when corporations continue to leave and you no longer have a strong tax base. Now, tell us about the Big Dig under Boston..."
I don't know what your point is. Unlike you, yes, I live in a state which is not perfect, but none of this stuff has anything to do with the reasons I like the state--see my previous post. This "My state is better than yours" stuff is juvenile. I like my state, it's not this hellhole you make it out to be. And if you still believe that, I don't really care--like the Big Dig, which you seem to know nothing about (how does that affect any of the qualities I named?), your opinion doesn't effect how I feel about the state.

"They move to another state and vote for the same things they moved to get away from." Not true in my case. Left that sorry ass state in '76 and have not once regretted it! I am still a staunch Conservative, homophobic, pro-life Republican.

You're correct, there are some states with higher taxes, though the fees here are pretty outrageous. But as with any state, it's a matter of what is reported, what is true, and what each individual citizen's lifestyle is which determines for that person whether he likes living in the state. From what I've heard, I would not want to live in Arkansas, Alabama, Alaska, California, or Florida--they're all fine states as far as I know. From what I've seen first-hand I wouldn't want to live in Washington, New York, or Georgia. But I'm sure millions who live in those places would love living out their lives there.
So while Mass. population may be shrinking, it says nothing about the "quality" or lack of it in the state for the individual considering living there.

But what about all the gay couples flocking to MA to tie the knot? Guess the number of people fleeing such immorality outnumbered them. Who'ed have thunk it?

Towns like North Adams have lost 70-80 percent of their job base to globalization. No, they lost those jobs due to inefficiency and greed. And I'm sure that corporate taxes were also part of the problem.
To: rbg81
Ya, I thought that gay couples would move there in big numbers because of same sex marriage. I had heard that gay groups wanted people to move there because the voters could decide a state const. amendment on the subject in 2006 and they want more homosexual voters there to vote against an amendment that would reverse the gay marriage decision. Stay tuned.....
But in any case, Mass. should be Heaven on Earth for Homosexuals, what with gay marriage being the most important thing to them.

I don't think Teddy Kennedy will ever retire. He plans to be in the Senate until he is removed by divine intervention or until he is elected President (whichever comes first).

A Google search says that Teddy was born February 22, 1932.

"I am Jack's total lack of surprise."
I would bet NH as well. I know a number of people that have moved over the past 10 years or so from Boston, to northern MA, to just across the border to NH.
but you would think that those fleeing crushing taxation wouldn't necessarily still vote dem :(

Outside of Boston, MA is a beautiful state. The politics of the place sucks big time, but you are right about the beauty of the state itself as well as the kindness of the people (again, outside Boston). As you can tell, I had a very bad experience in Boston ;o)

They are leaving, in the case I know about, because they can't afford to live there. Rich areas like Cape Cod aren't zoning for low income residential, and you know what, they can't find anyone out on the cape to flip burgers and pick up the trash. Rich areas like that do need somebody to do the work.

The liberals don't like the government stench they created in MA so they're moving to NH to stink up that place - which is exactly why it was such a stupid idea for the Free State Project people to pick NH. No kidding...have you noticed how the numbers of people "intending" to move to New Hampshire has slowed to an absolute CRAWL after NH elected a Democrat Governor and added 31 Democrats to the state legislature? The FSP is dead and buried. I have a feeling the ONLY reason NH was picked was that those heading up the project are already from New England...THEY didn't want to move west, but they expected everyone out west to come to NH. No, thanks.

"According to Census.gov it has 6.4 million people."
We can double that if we send all illegal aliens from California to live in the fair state of Mass.

Oh, well just trying to have a little fun here. Why do those stupid people keep those Jerks in office...?
