Slendidly and very moving said, and so true. One does not have to be a believer, to believe in the magic of Christmas, and just how special it is to the kids, and how wholesome, if handled right.
What I like to do for the kids is tell them I'm going to get them a puppy. Then I go to the local animal shelter and ask them for one of the dogs they just put to sleep. Then, on Christmas morning, I go, "Oh no!!!!! The puppy I was going to give you died!!! Must have been something you kids did!!"
It's always a Norman Rockwell moment.
