I forget which is the correct meteor investment: is it gold? Or beans? Or toilet paper? Heavy equipment stocks?

All things considered, there ARE some things I could do without...

radars registered an unidentified flying object, which was falling down on the ground at a very high speed.

That was Ted Kennedy leaving a DC topless bar.

Ping -

A couple more "cosmic shooting gallery" posts.

In this one I love this comment:

Someone in deep black space deliberately bombards the Earth with meteorites

The other thread is:

As a rule, meteorites do not fall down on inhabited localities. They prefer to hit seas, lakes, fields and even the Antarctic.

Meteorites have rules?

I think the UN needs to investigate this breach of protocol and sanction the USA... because it's obviously Bush's fault!

Not likely. Radar sets are "tuned" to look for targets with a fairly narrow set of parameters. There are radar (mostly UHF bistatic) that are designed to detect meteors, (actually meteor trails) but for air traffic control and air defense radar sets, meteors are insignificant clutter.

"They prefer to hit seas, lakes, fields and even the Antarctic"

Meteorites have preferences--who knew?
