Statement from Dino Rossi
Bellevue, WA Today Dino Rossi issued the following statement:
This is supposed to be the season for Christmas and Hanukkah, not campaigns, but this year, unfortunately, we dont yet have a governor-elect.
Like many people across Washington, Im very concerned about the integrity of this election process, and Im also very concerned that not all votes are being treated equally.
Earlier this week, I asked the Supreme Court not to change the rules of the recount. On Tuesday, however, the Supreme Court did change the recount rules, and allowed previously rejected ballots to be reconsidered.
Many hundreds of previously rejected ballots in King County were counted, but there are hundreds more of wrongfully rejected ballots that remain uncounted. We have affidavits so far from 300 legal voters across Washington whose ballots were wrongfully rejected. The rules were changed for a select group of ballots in King County, but not for many other ballots all across the state. That is wrong. If the rules can be changed for a select group of voters in King County, then the new rules should apply to everyone, equally.
Under the new rules established by the Supreme Court, if your vote was wrongfully thrown out through no fault of your own, your vote should be counted. Whether your signature was mistakenly challenged or whether youre a member of the military who didnt receive your ballot on time, your vote should count. Anything else is undemocratic.
To make sure that every wrongfully disenfranchised voter has the opportunity to have his or her vote counted, we are going to take some time to follow up with county canvassing boards across Washington and ask those boards to reconsider wrongfully rejected ballots.
I know many Washingtonians are hoping this will end soon, but Im also sure that people across this state want a clean election and a legitimate governor-elect. At this point, we have neither.
Finally, Terry and my children and I want to wish everyone a happy holiday season, and I again want to thank the people of Washington for their kind-hearted support.
...who told you I'm a Churchillian? lol
I didn't see the hearing on C-SPAN but I read the live thread and the female justices' behavior sounded awful. That's life in Washington as it has been.
I used to work for the state in Olympia and it is a seething mess of democrat power. I had two coworkers in a very large office building with whom I could speak freely. Oppression and intimidation regarding dissenting (against the dems) views were overwhelming.
We're ripe for some changes, wouldn't you say?
ping
I should have parsed my words more carefully.
There is no doubt whatsoever that Rossi won. However, from the 2000 election we learned that Democrats will do anything to gain or maintain power, especially cheat. And sadly, I fear that they are simply learning how to cheat better and better in order to meet their goals. Consider - if you will - the fake documents CBS and Dan Rather tried to use to submarine President Bush. Why did they fail? Because they were POOR fakes. Perhaps next time the dems will learn from their sloppy work and will make sure any fake documents appear more authentic.
So please understand that I know Rossi won. But based on personal observation (and the state supreme court's willingness to change the rules to favor the dems - something the US Supreme Court forbade in the 2000 election) I'm just not sure if he'll serve as Governor.
I hear ya.
Buck up. There's still life in the patient and we don't let go easily!
At what point might it make sense to call for a re-vote? I can certainly imagine that at this point it should be possible to do so fairly diplomatically: "Although it would be possible to get into a long drawn out battle to decide how to count various ballots which have been discovered outside the normal ballot chain of custody, it's clear already that no matter what the outcome many people will consider the results tainted. Given that there have apparently been mistakes in ballot handling which could materially affect the election, I think it would be best for everyone to rule that the present election is invalid due to mistakes made by election officials, and to conduct a new election as soon as expedient."
Such a statement would not be seen as attacking his opponent, but would say much that would be hard to disagree with. Neither side would trust a win by the opponent, and many people might regard dubiously even a win by their own candidate. Calling for the situation to be resolved by the people rather than the courts would likely be seen as a positive thing by voters who like either candidate, and so such a statement could play out quite well.
Exactly!
As Tim Allen commanded in the movie "Galaxy Quest"...
"Never give up...Never surrender!!!"
I am more amazed every time I see another brazen example of how the judiciary branch, arguably the most corrupt branch (see: New Jersey, California, 9th Circus, et al), has seized power across this nation.
By the way, FANTASTIC statement from Rossi.
A judicial monarchy.
Every single judge that sat on that panel has positive knowledge of many crimes committed by Gregoire and in fact, every single one of those justices that sat on the panel has positive knowledge of the obstruction of justice against me in a case that was properly filed in the state supreme court over for years ago and has yet to be heard. Every single one of those justices knows that they have been permitting Geoffrey Crook to exercise judicial power without any legal authority whatsoever in cases they want to send to a 'black hole' so the public never learns of crimes committed by judges and other powerful government official, including Gregoire and Gov. Locke.
CJ Alexander has a personal interest in seeing that gregoire wins. If Rossi were to win, his chances of being prosecuted for racketeering, including obstruction of justice will go through the roof. If Rossi were to win the election, Rossi is the one who can select citizens to sit on the Commission for Judicial Conduct rahter than Gregoire. If Rossi were the one to select them, There are a lot of judges, including CJ Alexander who would be tossed from the bench for criminal conduct and other violations of the code for judicial conduct.
Oh wow. What a sitrep!
A revote has been bandied about considerably but there are some legal issues to be sorted out first (if they can be with a dubious State Supreme Court hacking away at the law).
As I understand it (others correct me if I'm misstating anything here): Washington law has it this way. Count votes. If fewer than X votes exist between winner and loser, then a machine count is mandatory (that occurred). If machine recount results in fewer than X votes separating the winner and loser, a hand recount can be requested and executed (that occurred). If the results of hand recount are contested, the election goes to the legislature (democrat controlled here) for resolution. However, some read the law to say that the courts, rather than the legislature, can decide a contested election -- depending on the basis for the contestation.
The spoon in this tainted pudding is that King County (Seattle) and the State Supreme Court invented new ballot-counting procedures after the election results were twice certified declaring the GOP candidate the winner, throwing everything into further chaos.
So we have a few things to sweep up and take care of before a revote can be considered. And from what I've read, the legislature may be in charge of that, and I think the GOP is trying to keep it from going there because we have a fair idea what they'll do with it.
I am absolutely certain this, or worse, is what America faced in 2000 if praying voters had not interceded en masse for divine intervention. How prepared would the US have been for 9/11 if it took months for Bush to finally take office? It makes me wonder what's ahead for Washington if Rossi doesn't prevail. We're certainly getting extra special attention from the forces that love to twist and skew things. Washington doesn't get much attention on the national radar, but it is an extremely strategic state militarily, geographically, border-wise, and regarding international trade.
Class Act! Does anyone know how to see if your vote was actually counted?? I'm not sure my signature is the same as it was 15 years ago? Thanks for any help you might provide.
He shines out in fine form there. Dignified, restrained, hopeful, fair, not vindictive or whiny, keeping his eye on the ultimate good for our state.
This is a guess, but I'd contact my county elections office for information and verification of vote.
I do know you should contact them if you want to update your signature.
I don't care about this politically correct loser. He can't even call it Christmas, this statement was on Dec 23rd... He is a piece of dung... For Washington to have any credibility they are going to have to have a re-vote... NO ABSENTEE, ALL COUNTIES REPORT AT THE SAME TIME yadda yadda yadda...
Ease up.
Just the way I see it..
