"Is that a Bud Lite or Miller Lite can?"

Neither. That's a close-up of one "FREE!--45 DAYS OF AOL INTERNET SERVICE" CD on a cookie sheet, being melted down for recycling....

Terrific post. I heard opportunity was headed back to the landing site.
Just imagine. These are pictures taken from 200 million miles away. They are like tourist pictures. "Hi Mom, here is where we landed on Mars." This is just unbelievable. No wonder the world hates us.

Landing site is more appropriate. Opportunity didn't "crash". It was designed to land in exactly the manner it did. It jettisoned some dead weight as it fell towards the surface, and those peices 'crashed' - but again, that was also by design.

Hoagland just said on Coast to Coast that an astronaut (not water) on Mars wiped the dust off Opportunity and it will be able to function for another year. LOL. Don't put me on ping list, kind sir!

I saw reports recently of a cleansing effect that has greatly enhanced the power capabilities of the rover, weird things afoot on Mars, it would seem.

Here's the photo they were going to discuss.

I heard the NSA decrypted an ancient language being sent from the Martian surface reading to the effect, "Weather ballon debris discovered,....move along,....no problem here..."

Beer can and cigarette butts? It looks like the Martians aren’t any neater than we are – but one of them did clean off the solar panels recently.
