That is true, and she didn't have it remade. she just wore it. Made a big deal out of it that she wasn't so "wasteful" as to purchase a new dress, and this one had sentimental memories. That might have been OK, if it weren't so ugly.

You know, when you think about it, it was a dumb thing for Mrs. Carter to do. If a Repub had done it, the MSM would have been howling that she wasn't supporting the fabric mills and the workers. And remember, John F. Kennedy single-handedly put the hat makers out of work when he went bare headed.
