Laura inaugurates a trend (Laura Bush's Inaugural Dress to be "Ice Blue")

Laura Bush is getting another Oscar.

Designer Oscar de la Renta, who outfitted the First Lady for her big nights at the Republican convention and the Kennedy Center Honors, will dress her for the inauguration.

Her office confirms the incredibly important news that the gown will be ice blue.

Meanwhile, daughters Jenna and Barbara have chosen the younger, edgier design team of Badgely Mischka.

"They want slinky and sexy," a spy tells us. "The dresses are going to be figure-hugging with slits and sequins and decolletage."

All of the ladies will be equipped with matching coats - to protect them as they bounce around from ball to ball.

The love of your life dropped you for a much younger co-hort.

Am I right?

Will your moral superiority admit I am, or will your ego denounce me with flourish?

I just can't turn away.

It's like a car wreck, but a lot longer and more painful.

But Teresa Heinz is saucy and sexy. At least that's what she says

I think she meant to say, that she has to hit the saucy hard before she feels sexy for Lurch.

Oh my ... I can see why discretion's the better part of valor and you settle for a link.

I was thinking of when they let go the dam gates so Mr. Environment could paddle for a photo-op. Looked like he'd tucked an oar in his Dickies.

Agreed. She needs bolder colors. A little drama.

but why would a nice conservative Christian woman choose to immerse herself in the gay culture?
Who are the people in your neighborhood?
In your neighborhood ... they're in your neighborhood
Now, who are the people in your neighborhood ...
They're the people that you meet
When you're walking down the street
They're the people that you meet each day!

I've lived, done theatre, conventions, parties, social work and socialized in the Quarter for about 15 years now. I've run in all sorts of circles but it's inevitable I'd live among, work with and become very close friends over the years with many homosexuals.

They seem to understand the difference between judging the sin and condemning the sinner. You'd think more of the Christian types around here would as well.

Well, as an American Indian, there are many FReepers who would gladly tell you that I am closer to the Animal Kingdom, and that I have no decorum. Grunt.

I guess it's all about how you Format your grunting ... whether you get away with it or not. Something's got to distinguish us from the animals. (And as an Okie ... I'm not buying the Indian business ... if only because I've spent some time around the "trads". I think in particular of a clan who invited us to an evening a part of a five-week summer moveable feast and dancing of sort. Female modesty and male decorum abounded ... even to include, I'd note, the way the women all stood together somewhere behind all the steam of the pots and worked their tails off while the men clustered about smoking and talking when they weren't enjoying some of the incredible meal we were eating from various sized bowls, one big spoon a piece.

=== they see the world through the eyes of the very "mature" child that they continue to be

Just talking about this the other night with some musician friends ... all of whom are over 50 and most of whom look (and sometimes still act) like high school knaves.

It's the continuing to "play" ... quite literally in the case of musician ... and create and wonder and be in awe what leaves them time warped somewhat, we decided.

Takes all kinds, SunnyUSA. World's a more interesting place for it, I think.

=== You look like you are trying to convince YOURSELF but you aren't doing a good enough job of it.
Bush=Evil

I'm sure there are Perfectly Good Men who can conceive of human reproduction as the "gravest threat to mankind" and who go about deciding who should and shouldn't live, who is and is not of good "genetic/hereditary Quality," and how better to keep some from breeding at all while encouraging others to avail themselves of the technology which assures more superior stock.

It's possible, even, they truly believe that Government is the best means for "Educating" a populace to think the way that they think such that their ideas will not have to be forced on the citizenry but, rather, will be demanded as "rights."

(Such as the Christian Married Couple's "right" to purposefully exclude the Creator from the most intimate expression of their "sacred" bond.)

I'm sure they think in these terms because they believe they are commissioned somehow to play God with the power they have and make a better world for everyone (who doesn't fit their description of "down breeding" anyway).

I'm willing to give folks like that the benefit of the doubt. I guess.

But I don't like contradictions any more than you do and I believe someone possessed of such ideas could never hold themselves up as a pro-lifer, conservative, "constitutionalist" or -- above all -- a man who respects the Creator.

St. Thomas Aquinas takes hypocrisy so seriously that he says any man who has a real conflict of conscience -- that voice by which he enjoys his most intimate and constant contact with his Creator -- is better off leaving the Church than remaining in the Church a hypocrite.

The hypocrite priest who have broken their vows, preyed on the innocent and even gone so far as to practice the very disordered homosexuality so much a part of AmChurch's scandal even as they pretended at being Catholic and faithful to their vows, much less educators and defenders of the faith are a good example of the kind of evil a man can rationalize and even participate in once he's comfortable being a hypocrite.

I'm wary of hypocrites. I don't trust them. I think that's fair enough.
