Laura inaugurates a trend (Laura Bush's Inaugural Dress to be "Ice Blue")
New York Daily News ^ | 12-21-04 | Rush/Mulloy

Laura Bush is getting another Oscar.

Designer Oscar de la Renta, who outfitted the First Lady for her big nights at the Republican convention and the Kennedy Center Honors, will dress her for the inauguration.

Her office confirms the incredibly important news that the gown will be ice blue.

Meanwhile, daughters Jenna and Barbara have chosen the younger, edgier design team of Badgely Mischka.

"They want slinky and sexy," a spy tells us. "The dresses are going to be figure-hugging with slits and sequins and decolletage."

All of the ladies will be equipped with matching coats - to protect them as they bounce around from ball to ball.

The boys at the Societe didn't call me "the Girl who Fell to Earth" for nothing ...

Were those the gay guys or the straight/gay guys?

Between the thread about the news that it was a suicide bomber behind the attack yesterday, and this one, it's been quite a spirited day at FR.

I can barely keep up! ;)

And, Merry Christmas ... I won't be able to post until after Christmas.

One of the more interesting groups of hetero boys for whom I've served as honorary Steno. We had a pirate, a bookseller, a French playboy who raised racehorses, a journalist, son of a Halliburton CEO, a sex guru/lead guitar, a French communist (the official Opposition), a math professor and a few ringers from the theatre and elsewhere who'd sit in a time or two.

Only if you're attracted to 40-year old women because they remind you of your mother.

I don't know. My mother was a hell of a woman. Any woman who could put up with me, as she could, would be worth it, no matter the age... and since I'm not too far from 40 myself, I don't see the problem.

Then you're too young for me.

Darn. I was so hoping that you and I could have a future together, as we enjoy our life of modestly-clothed adventures, and bask in our moral superiority... Fun times.

Transference doesn't work in this instance since I'm nearly twice as old as the Bush Twins. It's the spectacle of grown men getting the vapors over pix of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or the Bush Twins that's unseemly and sophmoric at best.

Well, who cares if a grown man ogles a girl of legal age? I mean, young women of legal age are fun to look at... I couldn't see myself dating one, or even marrying one, but there's no harm in looking.

For an old lady, you sure have a lot of growing up to do.

Fabulous...... they've chosen two of my favorite designers. Oscar de la Renta is perfect for Laura and the girls will be knockouts in Badgely Mischka. Can't wait to see them :)

Only one of those at any given time. At present, the Man of my Dreams is my age, definitely hetero.

The only possible comparison between Bush Twin fans and me is that the chances of our actually talking -- much less meeting and marrying -- are roughly the same. Guilty as charged on yet being a Tiger Beat dreamer of sorts.

Well, Diet Coke is low-carb, so I don't think so...

Sorry. I shall endeavour to comply with your request.

Now, if you'll excuse me I'm gonna go smear dirt on my battered face, smoke a cigarette, and see if I can get myself served a mixed drink. Preferably one with one of those little umbrellas, and an exotic name...

Yeah ... if you want to keep at ogling the friends of your nieces or your daughter or the President's daughters, that's fine.

It's the TALKING ABOUT IT and the posting of pics like you're on some Daily Dose thread which blows my mind. What is manly about that? It seems so ... so ... gay.

I don't bask in MY moral superiority, guy. Never have, never will. Most of my arguments on this forum, even, clearly were the result of Unfortunate Experience and Lessons Learned the Hard way.

If you'll notice ... I only go ballistic when the Moral Party which puts Virtue First tends toward excessively libertine behavior.

Modestly-clothed adventures are certainly more memorable ... lasting, as it were ... where circumstances are such clothes must come off. Not much in the way of thrills and chills, exploration-wise, when all you lack at the start of Closer Inspection is an OB-Gyn's set of stirrups.
