Laura Bush is getting another Oscar.
Designer Oscar de la Renta, who outfitted the First Lady for her big nights at the Republican convention and the Kennedy Center Honors, will dress her for the inauguration.
Her office confirms the incredibly important news that the gown will be ice blue.
Meanwhile, daughters Jenna and Barbara have chosen the younger, edgier design team of Badgely Mischka.
"They want slinky and sexy," a spy tells us. "The dresses are going to be figure-hugging with slits and sequins and decolletage."
All of the ladies will be equipped with matching coats - to protect them as they bounce around from ball to ball.

I like to look at pretty women. Mrs. L likes to look at handsome men. Neither one of us gets our noses out of joint about it as we both realize that we are human and that sort of thing is going to happen.
Our motto is "I don't care where you get the appetite as long as you bring it home for dinner."
Now I don't know if that makes us unrepentant sinners doomed to eternal damnation in the Lake Of Fire or not. I do know that it works for us.
Neither of us has to worry about the other 'straying' from the marital fold as it were.
We did the Toys For Tots run last week with a local 4WD club from McCormick Place to the Marine HQ last week. We had to drive up Lakeshore Drive and then onto the grounds of the HQ. Standing on line were a bunch of really handsome squared away Marines waiting to receive the toys we were carrying. (BTW most of that unit had deployed to Iraq just a few weeks earlier.)
I had to remind Mrs. L that this wasn't a drive-through window and she couldn't have the Marine of her choice handed to her at the second window. We both got a good chuckle.
I look at it this way. If God didn't want me looking at attractive women, He wouldn't have made your sex so gosh darned....well, attractive.
Well, enough of that.
Please allow me to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year.
Regards,
L
Oh ok. Another judgement. Here's mine: Based on your reply, it seems to me you're following the liberal mantra of deflecting a logical question with insults.
You were perfect as a young adult? Never drank, stayed out too late, made out in a car?? NEVER??? Your parents must be Mary and Joseph.
You can say that again. [Insert cuckoo clocks patch here.]
=== I like to look at pretty women.
So ... do you think the Bush Twins are hawt or what? =)
=== Your parents must be Mary and Joseph.
Considering the trouble I brought upon my head (and theirs), Job's more like it.
Or else you're just a member of the Bush family, and can't do anything right in general.

Shhh ... have some more punch.
I'm busy defending my own past and the childrearing abilities of my folks thanks to my observation that children fresh from the nest generally provide some reflection of the parents.
She will look good in ice blue. She had a suit this year (maybe at the Repub convention) that was pale aqua and she looked beautiful in it.
Well the rules of fashion state that a woman picks one asset at a time to show off (legs or decolletage). Showing off both makes you look like a street walker.
Ok, its time to step away from Psychology Today.
There are real men out there who will wed a woman and be faithful and loving.
I think it reflects very well on the Bush family that the Bush daughters are taking real jobs, not relying on the family fortune (honorably earned, which I know you disagree with) or having a made-up job handed to them on a silver platter.
So the root of all of this is the Bush Twins don't dress modestly enough for you, and damn to hell all those who like to look at them and/or comment on how attractive they are. And then you take the leap to blame their parents for raising them with this lack of modesty.
You are on this jihad of morals and modesty lately about normal folks expressing normal opinions about normal things.
Its too bad your morals and modesty don't extend to granting US soldiers full rights under the Geneva Convention.
A modest woman wouldn't let slip her obvious hatred of her own country.
What I know about fashion could fit in a thimble, but I do know that Laura Bush is one incredibly classy woman, and I am proud that she is our Nation's First Lady.
And "fresh from the nest" is exactly when young people most often head *away* from the values they've been raised with, meaning poor behavior does not necessarily--in fact most likely--reflect on their upbringing.
As time passes one can make a better evaluation of character and I really think holding mistakes over their heads forever is not fair, not nice and not honorable.
=== and fresh from the nest" is exactly when young people most often head *away* from the values they've been raised with,
Even when attending their Dad's Inaugural Ball or during the length of his campaign (particularly in light of the hateful way Republicans have trashed the children of his competition)?

Comments like this (in addition to the Abbot and Costello puzzling over my posts herein) only underscore the fact you can't -- and probably never have -- understood a word I'm saying.
Try not to lower yourself to the level of Sinkspur by repeating a claim you have no hope in hell of backing up without making yourself look like an ignorant shrew with a third-grade reading comprehension.
What did they do wrong during the Inaugural Ball or on the campaign trail?!
What did I miss?
