The plane is but the pilot and chute aren't yet; but the scientists are working on that.

Sure hope it isn't the one I asked Santa for. It was the one slated for you. And sorry, I can't tell you how I know, but there will NOT be a shiney new F22 with a bow and a "To: PoorMuttly From: Santa" tag sitting at your local FBO this Chrismas.

I don't think he would have checked out if things weren't very, very series.

What about the "joint strike fighter", is that a separate plane?
If so, please tell me we don't need a second aircraft. Lets make one great one I say. And lets not give it away to anybody!!!!! Start selling it about 10 years after it debuts. J(ust)M.O.

This happens during testing so that it doesn't happen when it hits production. It is part of R&D.

Heh, heh, heh. I once saw the charred remain of an SR-71 going by on a flatbed. Couldn't mistake the shape. I bet it was worth a fortune in salvage.

Yup. . .you fly the four corners of the envelope. Exceeding the envelope is another matter.
Will be waiting for words.

Damn, this would be the 2nd crash of a F/A-22. First one was back in 1992.
The F/A-22 is going to replace the F-15C Eagle. The JSF will be replacing the F-16 Falcon, AV-8B Harrier, and faze out the F/A-18C/D Hornet, the Super Hornet is taking over the F-14 Tomcat's duties.

TheF22 supposedly is capable of flying itself through some maneuvers. There were glitches where the pilots standard response would worsen the situation. Hope that's not what happened here.

I hope that was in jest. Buy 80's technology that doesn't work and is way late, not stealthy and have maintenance nightmares, etc. . .and besides, it "Euro" (ewwwwww!).
To: BurbankKarl
They had a crash during the development stage of the F22 caused by PIO (so-called, Pilot Induced Oscillation). Wonder if this crash is related to that problem.

Why buy a plane that's sub-par by our standards?
