The United States has allowed non-American's to be president before.

Name them and when they served.

Clinton promised to end welfare as we know it.

I don't remember a promise like that....but I do remember that the welfare reform during the time was FORCED onto Clinton by a Republican congress....and the increase in the stock market during that time can be tracked ALMOST TO THE DAY that the Republicans took over the check book in the house!

Chester Arthur, the 21st person to hold the presidency was born 1829 in Dunham Flats, Quebec. He moved to the United States at the age of one.

"Clinton promised to end welfare as we know it."

"I don't remember a promise like that...."

No - he did, and it was central in his 1992 campaign. After he was elected, he was told by the Dem-controlled Congress, in no uncertain term, that the idea was DOA (not that his heart was ever in it, in the first place).

I was only when, as you noted, the Republicans forced it down his throat did it get to his desk - and was signed (to his credit).

This would be interesting, were it not for Title 8 of the U.S. Code, Section 1401, which defines citizens of the United States at birth as:

And it's a bit interesting that Arthur was apparently the last such "foreigner" allowed into our highest office. Sounds like we learned our lesson.

I have no objection to changing that requirement of native birth.

I do.

I also don't think it will ever happen.

"White House bio says he was born in Vermont."

Nice job on the research. Looks like there's deception taking place on this thread. Obviously someone wants this amendment real bad.

...and that's precisely what raises my suspicions about the whole thing.

The deception might be that the Dems using the RINO crowd to push through an amendment. They've got a very photogenic moderate governor in Michigan who might just give Hillary a run for her money, if she had the chance.

I think you could ratchet that "you are here" sign toward the donkey a bit. But I'm confused... shouldn't the Donkey's be on the Left?
It's kinda like that Blue-State/Red-State thing for me. I just can't stop thinking of Dems as RED! LOL.

Would the jackwits who want to alter the Constitution to accommodate this RINO please step forward now?

There are quite a few on this site still drinking his cool aid.

We really didn't have much choice. The Dems simply wouldn't accept being labelled red even though it fits.

One major problem if that had been reversed: we read left-to-right. Reversing the order would have destroyed the gag.

And, weirdly enough, only Arabic reads right-to-left.

By the way, I looked up information on Chester Arthur. Your claim that he was born in Quebec is false.

Chester Alan Arthur, 21st President of the United States of America, was born October 5, 1829 at Fairfield, Vermont.
