skerry must really be a slick operator to have convinced her that he could fill the late senator's shoes.

I once worked with a woman who had been married to a policeman who was killed in the line of duty, leaving her a widow at 23 with three small children. A guy who had worked with her husband kept coming by to see if she needed help. He kept talking to her about what "great friends" he was with her late husband. She ended up marrying him.

When I knew her, she had just found out that he had stolen the children's social security money, and that is why he married her. She realized she had been in shock and had married him trying to recapture a bit of the past. They are now divorced.

I think that is EXACTLY what Kerry did. I think that he came around talking about how he was such an admirer of Senator Heinz, exagerrating contacts he had with the guy. A little flattery, a little sympathy, and a lonely widow still in shock could easily succumb.

I think she woke up to the real John Kerry this summer. I will not be surprised to see them separated within a year. Despite the fact that I think she would make a terrible First Lady, I feel rather sorry for her. And all you need to know about the Kerry's is that the two aughters call her "step-MONEY."
