WASHINGTON The stink of Bernard Kerik's rotten bid to become homeland security czar hasn't stuck to his chief cheerleader, Rudy Giuliani, who is a top pick for the presidency among Republicans, a new poll shows.A whopping 68 percent of Republican voters want to see Giuliani run for the White House in 2008, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll showing little fallout among the party base in the wake of Kerik's embarrassing exit.
[snip]
And it shows that if party faithful get their way, Giuliani would face off against Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in an Empire State showdown which Giuliani would win, 45 percent to 43 percent.
[snip]
Although she's a favorite among Dems, 50 percent of all voters don't want to see the former first lady run for the White House.

This "poll" is nonsense. Unless the Republican Party wants a lot of Conservatives to stay at home on election night 2008, they'd best run a real conservative instead of another RINO.
I have NO idea who we are going to go with in '08....
Must of only polled "Republicans" in NYC
I think I would like to see Bob Dole in the primaries...
Nobody does. This whole nonsense is just being trumped up by the Leftist media as a wedge issue to fracture the GOP victory. Hell, GWB hasn't even been inaugurated for his second term and already every Tom, Dick and Ahmed is speculating on who's going to run on the Republican ticket in 2008.
I'm dismayed to see the NY Post hopping on this idiotic bandwagon. I expect that kind of crap from the NY Times.
In what capacity? I like Bob as a gentleman and as a Senator; he's a man of great character, but he was truly lackluster as a Presidential candidate.
What do you think about Dole? Would his healt be to bad in 4 years? I like him a lot...
Bump to that. I won't vote for a cheater and I don't care if he mirrors my politics to a T, because I can't trust someone who will cheat on his family. I might vote for a Bushie if forced, but I will never vote for a Clinton.
Jeb Bush
I'd vote for him in a second -- he's a great man. And this is not a NYC'r talking.
Much like I vote for bush even though I'm a hard hard core fiscal conservative.
If guilliani doesn't push his pro-choice/pro-gay views than he can be a great leader. He is made from far sterner stuff than GW who has just as many faults with the idealogy of a conservative (although on the fiscal, not social side).
Well, I would like to see him run as president/vice president I think he would add stature to the debate/primary if he were on the stage even if he wasn't nominated...
Bob Dole doesn't have time for primaries. Bob Dole is too busy popping Viagra. Bob Dole doesn't mean to disappoint you, but Bob Dole is gonna be busy elsewhere, if you know what Bob Dole means...Bob Dole's not just smiling because he's happy to see you.
I like Dole as a gentleman and a Senator, but even in '96 it was clear that he wasn't much of a Presidential candidate. Dole would have fared better running for President around the time that Dick Nixon ran.
Right now I'm throwing my support to Santorum and Tancredo. But, like I've been saying, nobody knows who's going to have their hat in the ring come 2007 and 2008. Remember that GWB wasn't even a blip on anyone's radar in 1998 and much of 1999.
He's an adulterous, pro-abortion, anti-Second Amendment RINO. That doesn't make for a "great man" in my book.
"Bump to that. I won't vote for a cheater and I don't care if he mirrors my politics to a T, because I can't trust someone who will cheat on his family. I might vote for a Bushie if forced, but I will never vote for a Clinton."
So if you won't vote for a cheater, you're not going to vote for Giuliani?
I would never vote for Giuliani... I'll go to a third party... I need a pro-life candidate
Newp. American voters ain't that fond of consecutive dynasties.
Who, other than Chaney? Can you name one Governor or Senator who is positioned to run for President in 2008 who even comes within a light year of being as conservative as Bush?
Only a FReeper would fail to realize that Bush is the most conservative president in history and that it is a miracle that he got elected.
Judas Priest, you must be kidding. Bob Dole was a great candidate in 1970, but he's not a contender any more. He's too liberal and too old to appeal to the two voter groups Republicans MUST get--the base, and as many women as possible.
I actually worked for Dole in 1988. Bush was a nightmare. But Dole wouldn't even win the Iowa caucus if he ran again, I bet, and I doubt he'd run anyway.
Liddy, on the other hand, now, SHE might be thinking seriously about it. But she's WAAAAAAAAAAY too liberal.
