Appeal to the Supreme Court last hope for Christians
First, symbols of Christianity are removed from the public square; now, Christians are facing 47 years in prison because they preached the gospel in the public square. Stalin would be proud, Brian Fahling, AFA Center for Law and Policy Senior Trial Attorney.
Tupelo, MS - After a federal appeals court denied an emergency appeal to stop prosecution of 11 Christians on Tuesday, Philadelphia Municipal Court Judge William Austin Meehan ordered four of the Christians to stand trial on three felony (criminal conspiracy, ethnic intimidation, and riot) and five misdemeanor charges. If convicted, they could face up to 47 years in prison.
The Christians were arrested on October 10 for praying, singing, and reading scripture during an annual gay pride event known as Outfest in Philadelphia.
Since the federal courts did not intervene to halt the state prosecution, the last route for the Christians would be an appeal to the Supreme Court says the Christians attorney Brian Fahling, senior trial attorney for the American Family Association Center for Law & Policy.
First, symbols of Christianity are removed from the public square, now, Christians are facing years in prison because they preached the gospel in the public square. Stalin would be proud, Fahling said.
The federal appeals court in Philadelphia denied emergency relief despite video footage Fahling calls undisputed evidence that shows the Christians cooperating with police and continually being harassed by the Pink Angels, a group of homosexuals organized to impede the gospel message. Philadelphia city prosecutor in the case, Charles Ehrlich, attacked the Christians as hateful and referred to preaching the Bible as fighting words, the judge agreed.
Charges were dropped against the remaining seven apparently because they were not seen quoting scripture on the videotape.
The Philadelphia case represents another example of discrimination toward Christians, said Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association national headquarters. The past month has poured forth cases of Christian persecution seen in the higher education institution, public school systems, and the judicial court system.

Actually, it's likely that the reason the study group is being asked to relocate is to avoid allowing other non-religious groups use the meeting area.

May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and all of us on FreeRepublic this Christmas season. May He watch over all of us and guide us as we make our stand over the next few years for His name.
How does Matthew end? Something like: Go ye into all the world and preach the good news to every creature?
This cannot be done in a closet.
AMEN! It certainly has. A sign of the end times, for sure.
Ah, yes, instruments of crime. The Holy Bible?
Back to DU, freeeee.
DU is where the Bill of Rights is defended? Funny, I thought that was what this place was about.
Anyway, why don't you get back with me when you have something intelligent to say.
No, I'm talking about the people in the article.
This is just like the big lie lefties tell about drug offenders
That is off topic. If you want to discuss the WoD, I'll be glad to in an appropriate thread. This thread is about free speech and free assembly.
can you give us a SPECIFIC EXAMPLE of a protester who had no prior record, did not engage in any violent act, did not resist arrest, did not urinate or defecate in the middle of the street, etc., who spent more time in jail than most convicted murderers?
I suppose after their trial I could use the protesters in the article, but I hope I won't be able to.
yet somehow the modern lefty protester never absorbed this message. To this nano-second, they don't understand how dearly their willingly and gleefully honed public image as half-naked, drug-addled, violent perverts and lunatics has cost them in the voting booth -- especially over the last 4 years.
Agreed. The bad press by their bad apples gives them nothing but bad press and causes their message to be lost or associated with violence.
you've never seen anything of the kind at Democratic Underground or MoveOn.Org or Michael Moore's website? Please! Multiply the worst of what you find here by a hundred and that's your typical lefty web forum.
Yes I have. I think its disgraceful and hypocritical. And VERY shameful that posters here behave the same way. We're supposed to be better than that.
The cop on this video is a NAZI. Even the mafia whouldn't stand for this crap. We need video tape of this case. Put this on Court TV.
I'm afraid I could never be as intelligent as you.
If someone here says something you don't like, attempt to address the issue using logic and reason instead of mindless invectives. You'd be amazed at the improvement.
Apparently we're talking past each other. I was talking specifically about leftist protesters, apparently you are limiting these comments only to the Christian protesters in this particular case?

Maybe their message wouldn't be lost and they wouldn't be so closely associated with these whack-jobs if they didn't make such an effort to BE associated with them -- by so publicly, consistently, and zealously defending them like ambulance chasers and portraying them as helpless victims in public.

By and large we ARE better than that, A LOT better. If you get thousands of people of any stripe together, it is unrealistic to say the very least to expect that there won't be some who won't be cyber-bomb throwers.
The difference is that in HERE, there are plenty of people like you and me who will tell them to knock it off. At DU and MoveOn and other places, their hatred of people like us is so fanatical that such comments about us are not frowned upon but egged on with a lynch-mob mentality. We're the evil ones so there is nothing bad that shouldn't happen to us.
Let get the dirt out.
Who was the cop who arrested this group?
Want to be we can dig up some dirt on this guy?
I wish I was in PA, I would love to get in on this fight.
Thanks!
It's not easy being always right.*
*joke.
I sure didn't take it that way and I'm sure that most reasonable people didn't either. Its never wrong to try to get the full story rather than just going off half cocked.
If a person does something wrong, then accuse them only of those things and don't make things up to make it sound more sensational. Bluegrass asked reasonable questions: there is a big difference between studying an activity and endorsing it. Bluegrass was only trying to figure out if Kinsley actually participated in the acts. By Jeremiah's logic, Christian researchers that study abortion are guilty of endorsing abortion simply because they researched the subject.
Weeelll, thank you SOOOO much for the advice.
You're welcome.
The problem here is that if anyone takes the time (say a half an hour) to read up on Kinsey (not articles by his followers but by those who have done research on him and his methods) will come to the inescapable conclusion that Kinsey is a fraudulent "scientist", a pervert, and a criminal by knowingly aiding and abetting crimes against children.
I haven't been to this thread since yesterday, but I put up a link for Bluegrass C. to read what Dr. Judith Reisman, who has written two books about Kinsey, has to say about him. If anyone wants to know the truth about him, the truth is there for all the world to see. If someone still thinks Kinsey was anything other than a digusting criminal, or doesn't want to inform themselves, words can't say what kind of mentality they have.

Should have pung you to the above.
