I absoloutely detested the band Pantera. That said, this is the most crass, hatefull articles I have read in a long time.
Art (or whatever you want to call it) is subjective. I don't like Pantera or Bach. I cannot fathom how one could be viewed as "superior" to the other.
In part. Most apes join up with other apes. In other words, someone else finds good in it because of a likeness. In other words, art is not pure individualistic whim. Increasing subjectivity in art is very tiresome, even to the artist who makes it.
There's a subjective component to it. But there's an objective component as well. For example, everyone knows that the Pieta is objectively superior to every modern attempt at sculpture. But that doesn't mean that some people don't prefer modern attempts at sculpture to the Pieta.
