I hardly live in the "gutter." I have a good job, a college degree, no piercings or tatoos. I make in the high 5 figures. I don't smoke dope. I don't screw a different woman every night. And I'm a metalhead.

Being an 'elitist' means believing yours is the only opinion of importance when it comes to art or music. Since art and music is subjective, and literally all art and music is valid and worthwhile ,even if the only person who enjoys that music or art is the person who created it, 'elitists' are easy to spot.
Contrary to your assumption, when it comes to art and music 'elitists' are in fact below the gutter. Everyone looks down on them.
