Ummm

These were OBVIOUSLY legitimate questions. The soldiers roared with applause and cheers? Sounds to me like we have a problem folks.

Why is this forum try to cover it up and act like a reported made them ask the question?

The article DOES NOT SAY THAT. The title of this thread is BOGUS and a lie.

Where is the set-up? The soldiers were the ones who wanted to ask the question. OBVIOUSLY a TON of soldiers felt the same way.

I am GLAD that someone is asking questions like this. Too many of our soldiers are dying in roadside bombings.

Shame on free republic for ignoring a real issue and problem.

Rumsfeld even said it is a problem.

I fail to see where this thread is pointing out anything slick.

Just my opinion...

Sounds to me like it's not a lack of making the up-armored Humvees but a lack of getting them into the theater.

So to me this just begs the question:

HOW MANY TRANSPORT VEHICLES / VESSELS WERE DECOMMISSIONED DURING THE CLINTON YEARS AND ARE NOT HERE NOW WHEN WE NEED THEM?

You drama queens and your "roars of cheers" and "outbursts of hoots and hollars" need to give it a rest.

If my Sunday paper is late sometimes. It bugs me, but its only once or twice a month, and I might call up the Paper and complain someday, but I haven't yet. Then a reporter comes to the door and wants to do stories on the Paper delivery service in the area. He sets me up with a speech at the city council where I get to address and ask the Paperboy why my paper is late. After I do, there is a few days of big news stories talking about how mad I was that I went to the city council and go up and addressed directly the paper boy and the big DEAL that was.

Now... in each case the situaion is the same, but the REPORTER has the ability to SKEW REALITY by engineering the whole thing.

Does it mean my paper is not really late? Does it mean that I have no right to complain about it being late?

Of course not... but thats not the issue (and not my point)... what I said is DISGUSING is the distortion of REALITY. To 'crank up' the percieved level of 'angst' in the military.

"Its so bad even the soldiers are publically dissing Rumsfield!" is the perception this guy tries to create even though its more accurate to say soldiers HAVE been asking for armor for quite a while, but things are "so bad" that they would get to public airing of greviences.

Why is it so difficult for you to understand that there is a difference between the complaint and how the complaint is made (and the role in the Reporter in that process)

Shame on free republic for ignoring a real issue and problem.

The biggest problem here is the MSM exposed a weakness to the enemy and the SOBs are celebrating it. If that isn't a real issue then what is.

You can ignore the facts if you prefer but those of us who really care and seek accurate information know that this "problem" is being addressed as rapidly as possible. And that EVEN WHEN FULLY ADDRESSED there will still be deaths from these devices.

But don't let reality interrupt your love affair with the schemes of the RATmedia.

Exactly what problem is being ignored?

The equipment is being manufactured as we speak, and was before the question was even asked.

The problem is being addressed. THAT is what is being ignored.
