I didn't I mischaracterized you at all. It stands to reason that if you were so pro-Bush as you say you are, you wouldn't be questioning the judgement of the President. Be sad all you want, makes me no never mind and it doesn't change the fact that you don't trust the judgement of the President who probably has a perfectly logical reason to keep Mineta on his cabinet.

"Don't change the subject. The subject was about the AWB (which you brought up) and not CFR."

President Bush signing the AWB was used as part of my reasoning as to how he will handle any AWB bills that arise...

By the way...you're not the official Freep Thread Controller, are you? I can freely formulate my own words and reasonings here, right?

I mean, if you show me your official Thread Controller licence, I'll gladly retract any words and thoughts that you require me to expunge, and use only those thoughts, words and reasonings that you deem official.

"President Bush signing the AWB..."

I meant, of course, President Bush signing the CFR.

You refused to even acknowledge the other (guns in cockpits).

That is simply not true. You brought it up in a dialogue between us, and I tackled the issue head on, you even took the time to respond to that post.

But the statement "all I've read is the same ad naseum [sic] attacks on Mineta's intellect" is a demonstrably false one.

Disagree with the man, but don't call him an idiot, you joined that bandwagon, so suck it in and take that medicine.

Of course not. Just admit you're wrong and move on.

President Bush signing the AWB

BTW. Bush did not sign the AWB, that was Clinton's doing. Freely express your thoughts all you want, lets get the facts straight.

Thank you for your thoughtful post. Your initial response to this news spoke for the shock and horror many of us felt.

I'm sorry that some of the Bush cheerleaders cannot understand that one can support a man as president but still take issue with the decisions that he makes.

I only pray that God will protect us in spite of the poor decisions being made such as this and the failure to get serious about the borders. If the God-forbid happens, Bush will go from being headed to be one of our greatest presidents to one of the most infamous because of his failure to take these common-sense actions to protect us in this age of terror.

I explained in the next post that I meant the CFR.

You prolly didn't see it. Look about 1" down from that post. I'll translate it for you if you can't read it...

If you still cannot find it, I can get the number of the post and send it to you, or I can do a screen grab and freepmail it to you.

Thanks for the compliment that I'm not open to leftist ideas. But you go ahead and cheerlead them all you want.

He had told the Congress that he would sign it if it crossed his desk, and he did

Right. Congress passed it, and he signed it, just like he said he would. It's Congress' fault it ended up on his desk for his signature.

"President Bush has asked for wisdom and discernment from the Lord for every decision he makes, and has asked us to pray for him too (that includes THIS decision).

I pray for him all the time. I think he wrestles with his natural instincts to be a conservative and his Dad's squishy moderatism.

The most important thing, though...I believe, is that God placed him there directly, both pre-9/11 and post-9/11, to protect us from terrorism and the hell that the left wants to drag us into, of abortion, homosexuality and anti-Christianity.

Starwise,

An article that completely backs you up. And thank you for your post. There are a lot more of us out here who understand what you're saying than those who don't.

"Right. Congress passed it, and he signed it, just like he said he would."

He should never have signed it, like he shouldn't sign any AWB bills that come before his desk in the future.

"It's Congress' fault it ended up on his desk for his signature."

True, but President Bush should have vetoed it.

It's an atrocity, and there was a story that the FEC will next year try to pass restrictions on political speech over the internet.

Unbelievable...we can have hard-core pornography in stores, we can have TV shows like ER showing one of their main characters injecting her sick father with poison to kill him, and her boyfriend doctor asking her is she wants him to kill her dad, instead.

We can also have a statue of Jesus Christ in a jar of urine, yet we cannot join together with a group of like-minded people like the NRA to run ads against candidates that we disagree with.

By the way, I used to live in Mammoth Hot Springs when I worked for Yellowstone Park, and when I lived in North Idaho I would go camping along Route 2, the Pack River Area, all the time, and the Yaak/Tobacco Valley area, and, of course, The Bob!

I miss Montana a whole bunch...

He should never have signed it,...

And break his promise to Congress?

True, but President Bush should have vetoed it.

Veto something that he promised he would sign if it ended up on his desk? I don't like CFR any more than you do, yet I don't blame Bush for signing it, because he told Congress and the American people he would sign it, long before the bill even came up for debate on Capitol Hill. Everyone keenly aware of the thing were forewarned.

He shouldn't have made that promise...

He'll do the same thin g if/when another AWB bill is introduced.

Can't you see the parallels?

Right, and if Congress actually had some backbone and shot down crap they knew was counterproductive to this nation, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I see the parallels. Do you see the parallels?

And break his promise to Congress?

Yes, break his promise to Congress. He "promised" during his initial campaign that he wouldn't sign CFR because he considered it "unconstitutional." (I quote).

The very idea that this man called it unconstitutional, then SIGNED IT ANYWAY, was my first "clue" that the hours, money, and hopes I had invested in him were for naught. Not much to say about a person who would ignore our founding documents for political gain, now is there?
