Yes, there are those who, in the so called name of Christianity, may have committed atrocities against his fellow man. However, they were not following the teachings of the Bible. The Bible does not order Christians to kill those who don't believe.Christians are to teach others about Christ, but it is a persons free will to believe or not.
With the Quran, it states that all who don't believe are infidels, and all infidels must be destroyed.
There are many on this thread who have a better understanding about Islam than I do, but the one point I just made is a good place to start in understanding the differences.
Bottom line, rejecting Jesus doesn't result in you being beheaded.
The main difference between Christianity and Islam: In Christianity, God gave his only Son to redeem the sins of the world; in Islam, God wants you to give your son to punish nonbelievers.
"NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again."
