On the 63rd anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, President Bush flew to Camp Pendelton, California and back again to speak with the Marines, and thank them for their service and great sacrifice, but made it clear that the War on Terror is not over. After his public appearance, the President met privately with the families of 50 Marines who have died in Iraq.
The President is leading with strength and certainty, so its a good time to be a Bushbot! ENJOY your trip to Sanity Island, and the Daily Dose!!
The problem to me is the color.....even though it matches part of the dress, it is too stark a contrast with the darker color and jumps out too much.
BUT........it is obvious that Laura likes the look (she IS the First Lady and could say "No" if she wanted). And I guarantee that the President doesn't have enough fashion sense to care one way or the other.
I've heard him say it before, and I'm sure he said it when he saw her in that dress....."You look beautiful, baby!"
(Maybe it IS a West Texas thing??)
After looking at Fawn's handiwork, I prefer the belted look....but, like you said, maybe in a different color.....btw..I've noticed in fashion books and tv shows that the belted look is in.
Very strange to a calorie conscious 'northerner' like me, but after 28 years of eating his Mom's food, I'll have to agree that it's tasty.
(But if I ate the food he grew up on regularly, I'd weigh 300 pounds! :o)
Hey, are guys allowed in here??
I, on the other hand........
How in the world ARE you, Mike??
(btw, you should see how spiffy Eric's dress uniform is, with all it's stripes and ribbons!)
I take it, you are not busy?
I bet he does look good, I haven't received all the new stuff for my dress uniform yet. I'm doing fine, great to be home for Christmas this year.
That reminds me, Mike you really need to update your uniform!
Mike, it is SO good to know you are home this Christmas, and so good to know you're doing well! What a difference this year, eh?
Eric will be home from school next week. All I can say is "Praise the Lord!"
We watched him put his ribbons together, and on his uniform when we were with him last weekend. (He had an inspection at his drill........that's the only reason he did it, I think!)
No, Im at home and Mike is at *work*....with his Bn gone there are only about 8 soldiers manning the fort and not too much for them to do until the rest return from Iraq...
:o)
No, I am sneaking a few minutes on FR at work. With Illinois' Blackhawks currently in Iraq, there are only 3 people here at work, it's a real challenge to find something to do everyday. I'll eventually get my uniform squared away, maybe even try it on, gained a little weight since getting back....LOL
No I didn't hear they wanted kids. I sure hope one or both of them are not able to. What a terrible relationship to bring kids into! I'm hoping for the grandparents or father-daughter team, but I'm afraid they won't make much longer. It's neat how those teams will love each other no matter what happens.
As for the bow . . . I didn't mean any of us were fixated on it . . . I just think it's neat we can come here and as well as talk about the serious issues, comment on the clothes as well. With all the stress and turmoil in the world, it's nice to be able to joke about something so minor, too.
When you post the pics like that--one with the bow, one without--you can see how it adds to the outfit and brings out her earrings and eyes.
I loke how the sparkles on the dress match the sparkles on the tree.
I'm glad you found the time to stop by anyway, Mike.
I'm going to say it again........you two were an integral part of our very survival last year, and I THANK you from the bottom of my heart for it!
Well, when am I getting an invite? ;o)
***Hey, are guys allowed in here??***
Only guys who like and admire the Pres. and First Lady. I think you qualify :-)
Nice to "see" you!
You're right, Ohio, the color of the ribbon is kind of distracting. And I'm sure you're right that the Pres. told her how beautiful she looked, and in turn I bet she told him how handsome he was. :-) Bow or no, she always looks beautiful.
