A high rise in the Chicago Loop at 135 S. LaSalle has at least one floor on fire. Live shots show a raging fire through the windows.
This is the LaSalle Bank Building. Began just after 1830h.

Easy fellers, this is what FR does best...we supply information about stuff going on that the major media ignore.
There are Freepers across the country that might have friends or relatives who live and work in Chicago.
This IS newsworthy because Chicago STILL doesn't have mandatory retrofitting of older buildings with some form of sprinkler systems.
This has been on LIVE since 1900h on all three CHIcago stations...

OK, I give up. What is montag813 and what does it have to do with the newsworthiness of fires?

More serious injuries being reported. Not specifics as to numbers or types. News is apparently only being told there are more serious injuries. Another official briefing will occur in next 10-15 min.

To give folks an idea as to where this is, the photo below may look familiar to those who remember "The Untouchables" or other films made in Chicago. This portion of Chicago is akin to Wall St. in New York City. The large building in the center is the Chicago Board of Trade. The LaSalle Bank building is close by.
This photo is looking south on LaSalle St.

At least 7 injuries taken to Northwestern Med Center. All in stable condition probably smoke inhalation. One of the firefighters was taken there, rushed they said. Detectives are talking to people who were taken to the hospital, getting information.
Still saying there may be others injured.
