I lived there for 5 1/2 years so I can hold my own in a conversation for about 15 minutes anymore. It's been almost 18 years since I've been there.
Before I left I could converse, in Tagalog, on just about any subject but it's been too long.

That is good, you were able to learn Tagalog. I guess if you can do it, I can do it too. Did you pick up a lot by watching TV, or simply by being exposed to it all the time? When you go to Palawan, you will be exposed to it again, unless they speak something other than Tagalog there.

By the way, did you choose your name because, while in the Philippines, everyone called you Joe? If I had a dollar for every time I got called Joe, I would be rich.
