Ive suggested that philosophy be logically consistent within itself..

Ok,sure, but you don't need science for that.

"Ok,sure, but you don't need science for that."

No you dont. However, scientific people tend to be highly logical and rational.

Im advocating that rationality also be applied to discussions regarding public policy.

Im suggesting that you...as a scientist...apply the same level of thought and logic to your public policy positions as you apply to your scientific research.

Oh, boo hoo. The kid's an illegal. You don't put any pressure on politicians by getting squishy. Squishy is their excuse.

What are you "toughies" doing about putting pressure on besides badmouthing a good kid?

I want the borders closed off as bad as any body on these threads but, unlike those who would only punish an innocent kid, I'd like to see some reaction from either party on closing the borders and/or enforcing the law.

Squishy is their excuse.

Squishy my a$$, I'VE NEVER HEARD ANY EXCUSE FROM THESE A"HOLES! They (Republicrats as well as Democans) just totally ignore the electorate!

Im trying to formulate a rational public policy.

I'm merely stating what I believe the correct course of action is in the face of a highly irrational public policy.

We let them them in but won't legally recognize their presence nor do we bother to remove them. We strangle business owners with burdensome regulation but then turn a blind eye when they evade the regulation by hiring illegals. We prohibit the public schools from refusing them admission and force others pay for their schooling. But then we refuse them admission to college on the grounds that we can't force others to pay for their education.

How in the name of Sam Adams and Patrick Henry did we reach a point where you can't attend college, hold a job, etc. without government approval and a government issued serial number? How on Earth is it possible that the law both prohibits these people's presence AND REQUIRES ME TO PAY FOR IT.

If you're looking for self consistent public policy you won't find it by enforcing the laws currently on the books.

Why do you assume that's all we're doing?

Yep. We all ignore the politicians and just pick on kids like this. LOL

Gee, do they? That never occurred to me.

Look, many of us have a pretty good handle on what the politicians have allowed to happen, and which politicians are responsible. However, when you advocate rewarding the parent's illegal actions by letting the kids reap the rewards of their lawbreaking, you are encouraging more parents to do the same.

Quite wrong, again. The inconsistency stems from the failure to enforce the laws on the books.

The inconsistency stems from the failure to enforce the laws on the books.

The rules on the books prohibit their presence AND forbid multiple government agencies from inquiring about the legality of their presence.

Yes, that's an aspect of the failure to enforce the law as it stands.

You don't do logic well.

You're the kind of shoot from the lip jerk that gives Republicans a bad name (and a small part of why I don't call myself one).

Why don't you give us an example?

Well, I guess the party needs more non-members like you than members like me. LOL

To your #172: I've phoned and written state and national legislators, and the White House, and have compiled a good deal of reasearch that has been shared with several national media figures. I'm just an average citizen-poster.

The government has no legal obligation to pursue misdemeanor immigration violations. In many cases, it is prohibited from doing so. Furthermore, it is often not in the government's interest to enforce the law.
