This goes out to all the good folks I know who stand watch over the threads, as one of the Viking Kittens, or the Knights of the RKBA. Your Sergeant-at-Arms sends greetings.
This might come as week-old news to you, but not everyone's heard it, so bear with me:
I'm headed for The War as of next month. My turn has come at last.
I fully intend to be part of your online lives for some time to come, with daily news of the madcap goings-on of the National Guard, both here and in The Sandbox. To say nothing of our ceaseless hunting of those who mean us wrong in our little virtual home.
As the New Year approaches, it means a time of renewal. Fresh starts, and cutting loose the past. We'll all deal with things as they come - you and I.
I'd like to give each of you, a line of dialogue from an old favorite episode of M*A*S*H*, that I've used every year since I first heard it:
"So, here's to the New Year: may it be a damn sight better than the last one was, and may we all be home, this time next year."
Enjoy Well The Days!

Keep your powder dry. Can you smuggle me in your duffle bag?
OMG, Sarge! I'm so proud of you. Thank you so much for your efforts, and please be careful. We need you here, too.
All the best to you and yours, Sarge.

Prayers for a blessed and happy Christmas, a happy new year, and for your safe return from Iraq. Make sure the bad guys' beebers are stuned in a smart, Freeperlike fashion! (c8
Hope you have lots of stories to tell your grandchildren.
Wish I could go with you but I ain't getting in no duffel bag with CG!
Oh my gosh, I will be praying for you. We will be putting up all our yellow ribbons on the palm trees next month as my brother is activated (with Marines) January 2nd. My nephew-in-law is also going next month. We've had our Support the Troops stickers and magnets on a long time now. We truly, truly are grateful for your upcoming bravery in battle and for protecting our freedom. Be safe. Thank you for all the great posts.
Those of us that can not be with you on the front will be covering your "six".
I thought you took a recruiting job?
God Bless you! Stay safe and hugs from me and my girls. We are so proud.
Take care of yourself out there, be careful, and know that we're backing you.
Thank you for still being in uniform.
Stay safe, Sarge.
Our thoughts and prayers will be with you.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a safe New Year.
Thank you for your service.
