Telemarketers will soon have access to your cell phone number.
This spring, all cell phone numbers will be put into a directory. The good news is, you do not have to worry about losing your friend's cell phone number. The bad news is, telemarketers will be calling your phone and using up your minutes.
"It would be an option if you wanted to be in a directory or not. There could be some advantages - some people are virtually unreachable. About 5% of the cell phone users don't have a land line listing anywhere, so you lose your friends cell number and you don't have a way to get to them. So there could be that advantage", said Pamela Meyer of the Better Business Bureau.
If you wish to have your cell phone number added to the Do Not Call List, call 1-888-382-1222. You must call from the number you wish to have added to the list.
Thanks for this very important alert.
Blessings,
I used the "do not call" online one & registered & I never get calls anymore, that was over a year ago.
They'll never get my cell phone number. I don't have one. :-)
My cell phone is primarily for business. - many times for emergency engineering service calls. The account is under a business LLC name. My tack for telemarketers (especially persistant ones) would be to invoice them. 4 hour minimum callout @ $100/hour.
There are all kinds of them out there that do different things, some basic like Telezapper and some more involved with lots of options but they cost more. You hook them to the phone line and an electric outlet.

I worked as a telemarketer for about 4 months with a company and the way he got his numbers for ppl was through banks. The banks sold there clients information to him. It included everything even the people's SSN's and credit lines. Now I think that is total BS. Just so he could get numbers of wealthy ppl and the bank could make a little more money by selling this info. If I where you I wouldn't bank with Well's Fargo at all. Just an FYI
