LOL!

I wish I were brave enough to wear that to the Ball; it would be one-of-a-kind, I bet. Sitting down while wearing it would require lessons, though. Maybe another year.

Thanks for the helpful info and messages to me.

We have been finding beautiful dresses at Dillard's lately. (We took a cruise in Oct. and needed some new clothes). Anyhoo, the Vietnam Veteran's thrift store is our favorite hangout. We go there once a week on Wednesdays, so we'll keep our eyes open in the dress aisle.

So looking forward to meeting all of you. I wish our kids had more than one night to get to know one another. My daughter is very shy for the first 6 months she knows someone, then after that, she'll never shut up. I hope she'll get to know some other conservative "kids".

Not to brag or anything but we have beautiful clothes in this family, especially my daughter because for some reason, we always get lucky with her size. We get them all at the thrift store for just a few dollars. We do pretty well at garage sales too, but I like the thrift store better. I wish I had better luck finding my husband suits there. He is 6 ft 4 in, 230 lbs and hard to shop for.

Blessings...

very well understood.

BOTH duckie & i are thrift shop/auction JUNKIES!

btw, my late wife made THE ALL-TIME BARGAIN purchase at a Dallas thrift store about 25 years ago.

she found a MINT-condition 100% HAND-brocaded gray silk-VELVET ladies riding habit with divided skirt, jumper, belt, lace blouse, boots, plumed top hat & parasol for the price of $35.oo total.(and would you believe it ALL fit VK, including the BOOTS ????)

the habit is circa 1890 and is NOW on permanent-loan to a textile museum in my home state! it's literally too valuable to wear!

NOTHING like that ever presented itself to me!

I missed it on the Front Page, but it is showing up in the "ad" in the upper right corner of the "My Comments" page. Too bad the flash bulb washed me out. (Nothing that couldn't be fixed in Photoshop...)

P.S. Guys and gals... The high school bands who are going to be marching in the Inaugural parade started getting their notifications of acceptance from the Inaugural Committee on Friday 12/10 - so now you will be contending with these groups needing 100+ rooms...

If you have not booked a close-in suburban hotel yet, make haste!

Kristinn just Freepmailed this link to me for y'all...

Link to list of many hotels in DC area. Kristinn typed in a query for two night stay, and it gave him this page.

Good luck, everyone!

Split four ways, that room of yours is a bargain at around $80 per person per night. Great location, too.

That's a suite, too; so a group of Freepers could share that room comfortably and very affordably.

I'm more of a traditionalist.  Black or White would be entirely appropriate. :)
