A man has died after he was dragged by his girlfriend's car along the East Freeway, severing his arm, police said.
Dewey Whitehead, 43, who had a post office mailing address in Buna, suffered multiple injuries and died at Ben Taub Hospital, investigators said.
Whitehead was in the passenger seat of a car driven by his 24-year-old girlfriend, whose name was not released. She stopped the car in the 9900 block of the East Freeway near the 610 Loop around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, and Whitehead walked to the driver's side door, investigators said.
Whitehead's arm somehow became trapped in the car's door, but police did not explain how this happened. The girlfriend accelerated, dragging Whitehead and severing his arm.
The girlfriend was taken into custody for questioning. The investigation is continuing as police continue gathering witness statements.
Don't tell me THAT is against the law??????

That must be one really really wide car.
A nineteen year age difference and probably on Viagra--yep, I can see why she needed to get rid of him.
Clearly a case of armed robbery. She was only disarming him. Self fefense, all the way.
Well, she took him for a ride, and he lost an arm... coulda been worse - he coulda lost a leg, too...
Sounds almost like a Blues song...
Oh wait, maybe he got out first.
It's another Texas dragging death, and you know who will get blamed.
The age difference was the first thing I noticed too.
What is it with men and pop tarts?
Maybe he was a real drag to be around.....
honorable mention for stupid/confusing/meaningless headline.
hydrant mark
Nothing to get up in arms about.
What are you referencing with "THAT"?
Reminds me that one of the standard methods is to have the right side man grab the wrist and forearm and brace them against the rear bottom of the car's window. Makes a mess within a mile at sixty miles an hour. Stolen car, obviously.
Not a very nice car. ......surprised it wasn't an SUV.
I HATE when that happens!
When asked why his girlfriend did this the victem replied, "Im STUMPed"
What a drag.
What....the CAR is guilty???
The perpitrator is traveling on the East Freeway. Caution is advised as the subject is armed....
