Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You with thanksgiving and joy that we live in a free land where we can pray and worship You as we please. We thank You that You have blessed this nation so richly in every area of our existence. We thank You for the wisdom of the Founding Fathers in their acknowledgement that You are the Almighty, and that You are the basis on which we must govern and live.

We also thank You, dearest Lord, for our President, and for Your mercy on us in allowing him to lead America for another four years. We thank You that he knows You as Lord of his life, and as Savior, and that he puts his trust in You. We thank You for his strength of leadership, and his moral courage and clarity in leading us in trying times. We ask that You might continue to speak to him, and give him the guidance and wisdom that he seeks from You.

We ask that You might continue to grant him and Laura safety and protection as they travel in Canada, and that You might bless this time they have together. We ask that in his second term, that the people around the world who have been lied to about him and distrust him, would see President Bush as he really is; Your servant, and would understand that he is humble and gracious. We thank You for the successful trip he has had thus far, and ask that You would continue to guide his steps in the coming days.

Father, we continue also to lift up our brave and courageous military, especially those who are serving in harm's way in Afghanistan and Iraq. How we thank You that so many of our young men and women are willing to serve this country, and sacrifice their own personal lives for the sake of our freedom! We are truly blessed by them, and thank You for their service! Be especially with them as they are far from home and loved ones this Christmas season. Help them to feel Your loving presence with them, and ease their loneliness, and that of their families as they suffer this separation. Be particularly with the families of those who have fallen during this time, and help them to get through the Christmas season as You lift them in Your loving arms and carry them through.

We also continue to pray for this nation. We know that there are those who seek to do us harm, but we will not be afraid, for they can do nothing to us because You are with us. We ask Your forgiveness for the sins of this nation, and we pray that we might move back toward a culture that honors life and truth and righteousness. We thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus as a baby, but we are mindful that He grew to be a man, spotless and without sin, and sacrificed His life for our redemption. We praise You and ask these things in the Name of the Incarnate Christ, Amen!

AMEN OHIO AND AMEN ALL!
GRACE TO YOU BRETHREN!

Ps 39:1 To the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. I said, "I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me."
2 I was mute with silence, I held my peace even from good; And my sorrow was stirred up.
3 My heart was hot within me; While I was musing, the fire burned. Then I spoke with my tongue:
4 "LORD, make me to know my end, And what is the measure of my days, That I may know how frail I am.
5 Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my age is as nothing before You; Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Selah
6 Surely every man walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, And does not know who will gather them.
7 "And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You.
8 Deliver me from all my transgressions; Do not make me the reproach of the foolish.
9 I was mute, I did not open my mouth, Because it was You who did it.
10 Remove Your plague from me; I am consumed by the blow of Your hand.
11 When with rebukes You correct man for iniquity, You make his beauty melt away like a moth; Surely every man is vapor. Selah
12 "Hear my prayer, O LORD, And give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears; For I am a stranger with You, A sojourner, as all my fathers were.
13 Remove Your gaze from me, that I may regain strength, Before I go away and am no more."
(NKJV)

Job 42:1 Then Job answered the LORD and said:
2 "I know that You can do everything, And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.
3 You asked, 'Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?' Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
4 Listen, please, and let me speak; You said, 'I will question you, and you shall answer Me.'
5 "I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You.
6 Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes."
(NKJV)

"Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought
and his angels."
- Revelation 12:7

War always will rage between the two great sovereignties until one or
other be crushed. Peace between good and evil is an impossibility; the
very pretence of it would, in fact, be the triumph of the powers of
darkness. Michael will always fight; his holy soul is vexed with sin, and
will not endure it. Jesus will always be the dragon's foe, and that not in
a quiet sense, but actively, vigorously, with full determination to
exterminate evil.
All his servants, whether angels in heaven or messengers on earth, will
and must fight; they are born to be warriors-at the cross they enter into
covenant never to make truce with evil; they are a warlike company, firm
in defence and fierce in attack.
The duty of every soldier in the army of the Lord is daily, with all his
heart, and soul, and strength, to fight against the dragon.

The dragon and his angels will not decline the affray; they are incessant
in their onslaughts, sparing no weapon, fair or foul. We are foolish to
expect to serve God without opposition: the more zealous we are, the more
sure are we to be assailed by the myrmidons of hell. The church may become
slothful, but not so her great antagonist; his restless spirit never
suffers the war to pause; he hates the woman's seed, and would fain devour
the church if he could.
The servants of Satan partake much of the old dragon's energy, and are
usually an active race.
War rages all around, and to dream of peace is dangerous and futile.

Glory be to God, we know the end of the war. The great dragon shall be
cast out and for ever destroyed, while Jesus and they who are with him
shall receive the crown.
Let us sharpen our swords to-night, and pray the Holy Spirit to nerve our
arms for the conflict.
Never battle so important, never crown so glorious.
Every man to his post, ye warriors of the cross, and may the Lord tread
Satan under your feet shortly!

C.H.SPURGEON

SOLI DEO GLORIA!

ohio --

I read your prayers. Beautifully done! What can I add?

I'll just inject Spurgeon's comments on the selected verses, those which bless my soul. But I have not there whetherall tonight or of late to be original. Instead, I'll just borrow the thoughts of others and add my feeble amens. Maybe, it is lateness of day or lack of effort. I'm not sure, but let this be my contribution to the thread this evening.

==============================================

Psalm 118: 6-7
(CHS notes)

The LORD is with me;
The Psalmist naturally rejoiced in the divine help

I will not be afraid.
He does not say that he should not suffer, but that he would not fear: the favour of God infinitely outweighed the hatred of men

What can man do to me?
He can do nothing more than God permits; at the very uttermost he can only kill the body, but he hath no more that he can do.

The LORD is with me;
we are not to disdain or think little of the generous friends who rally around us; but still our great dependence and our grand confidence must be fixed upon the Lord alone.

He is my helper.
Without him the strong helpers fail; indeed, apart from him in the sons of men there is no help; but when our gracious Jehovah is pleased to support and strengthen those who aid us, they become substantial helpers to us.

I will look in triumph on my enemies.
I shall myself look down upon them instead of their looking down upon me. I shall see their defeat, I shall see the end of them." Our Lord Jesus does at this moment look down upon his adversaries, his enemies are his footstool.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Lord, this now is more petition than intercession.
Revive our souls,
give us light through Thy Word and Spirit,
lift us up when we are down.
The storms rage against our boats.

Bring us speedily and at last to that shore we long for.

Blessed be Christ. He is holy. We are not.

We borrow from Him as well -- clothes of rightousness which are pleasant in Thy sight.

Amen and amen.

Our Merciful Master,

We come before You, O Glorious God, Secure in Your Mercy and Love for us, Joyously Thanking You for the Spiritual and Temporal Blessings You have Poured out upon us. Before You even Created the Earth, You Loved us, and Determined to Send Your Son to us to Save us from our Every Iniquity You Knew we would Someday Commit. How Great is Your Love toward sinners, O God! You have Had Pity upon us, Delivering us from this Present evil world, and Giving us to Your Son, as a Mighty Army of Worshippers, a Group so Vast and Large we cannot be Numbered. We will Exalt You for Your Praiseworthy Sacrifice, O Christ, throughout Endless Eternities to come, because You have Graced us, Plucking us from the kingdom of darkness and evil. Eternal Honor belongs to You, Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, our Creator, our Deliverer, and our Mighty God!

We are Filled with Gratitude Anew, Great King, for Your Giving our brother-President back to us for the next four Blessed years, a Grace-Gift we did not Deserve at all. How Kind You are to us, Merciful God! How Good, and how Gracious, to the fallen sinners who Inhabit Your Earth! You have Granted to us a man after Your Own Heart to Lead us, and our Desire is to Serve him, with Prayers, with Supplications, and with the Moral Support of our Christian Love. He has said that he Feels our Prayers, Loving God, so we Plead for Daily Grace to Fulfill this Work You have Appointed for us to Do, that You will Receive all the Glory and All the Praise for Its Completion. We Love You so, Dearest Father Jehovah, and Thank You from our hearts for not Suffering us to be Agonized under the ungodly reign of John F. Kerry! Thank You, Gracious and Merciful Master, for Sparing us that Horrible Nightmare that so easily could have Been!

Most Kind and Loving King, we Lift up our Military men and women to You now, Thanking You for Being their Defender and their Shield throughout the War on Terror, and we Plead that Your Fatherly Presence will Abide with them Strongly, and that Jesus Christ will be Foremost in their Thoughts and in their Hearts. We also Interceed for our Nation, O Lord-King, Begging for Your Sovereign Mercy to Go before us, for Your Grace to Fall Freely upon us, that we may come to our Senses and Repent of all our Ungodly Deeds. Help us, our God! Save us, as we Slide Further and Further toward the Abyss, toward Judgement for the Immorality, Perversion, and Infanticide we've Committed! Don't let us become Totally Godless, O King! Restrain the Democrat Party and the ACLU from their Errand from Hell, Cancelling their Atheistic Marching Orders satan has given them to do! Restore us to Complete Godliness, O Christ, for Your Own Glories' Sake, that we Might Give You all the Eternal Praise for it!

We Worship You, O Gracious Father, and Love to Sing of the Glory of Your Name! Bless Mightily all who come here to Pray, Sweet Lord, Infusing them with the Presence of Your Comforting Spirit of Grace. You are our God, O Loving Lord Jesus Christ, and we will Praise, Worship and Exalt Your Name Forever, amen.

Agreeing with you in prayer.

Praise Him in the morning
For tall and lofty trees
And praise Him in the evening
For children on their knees
Oh and praise Him in the noon day
For gentle birds that sing
Oh praise Him all ye people
Praise the King

Praise the King
Praise the King
Let it ring
Praise the King

And praise Him for a peaceful porch
And rocking chairs that sway
And praise Him for the rolling hills
Where children laugh and play
Oh and praise Him for the wandering soul
That never lost their way
Oh praise Him all ye people
Praise the King

Praise the King
Praise the King
Let it ring
Praise the King
Praise the King
Praise the King
Let it ring
Praise the King

And praise Him for the blood that fell
And bloomed a rose that day
And praise Him that He suffered through the guilt, the grief, the shame
Oh and praise Him that His tender love will still forgive today
Oh praise Him all ye people
Praise the King

Praise the King
Praise the King
Let it ring
Praise the King
Praise the King
Praise the King
Let it ring
Praise the King
Praise the King, Cindy Morgan
