Freedom is one of the theological ideas of Christianity that crossed into the political arena. The Apostle Paul wrote, "It is for freedom that Christ has set you free."
This thought of personal freedom gave rise to thoughts of political freedom whereever Christianity long succeeded.
What is life without freedom? (Which is another serious reflection in the ongoing search for the definition of life.) If it is lessened by the lack of freedom, then what is the "it" that is being lessened?
President Bush says that people everywhere yearn to be free. I agree with that and suggest that political structures which cause people to bottle up that yearning cannot endure - whether China, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Iran...
