Follow up with pictures of the daughter and her dirtball mother here:
Apparently the "boyfriend" is a college lecturer! They both ought to be tarred and feathered. The poor misguided daughter is so nice of a person she has made a public statement on her mother's behalf. She is far too good for them:

Someone has probably already pointed it out, but I believe that society has changed in such a way that a 14 year old is no longer
able to fend for him/herself. Because of child labor laws in most developed nations, this 14-year old girl would not, in all likelihood, be able to find legal employment. What is left for the lass? Drug running? Prostitution? Suppose she does find an employer who is willing to pay her under the table. Do you thinks she will actually see a paycheck? Friday rolls around, she goes to her boss's office to pick up her packet, he refuses to pay her. What's her recourse? Or maybe he'd try a little "Sure, I got your money...right here in my pocket, wink wink."
I do not know about other countries but those are, sadly, likely scenarios for indigent 14-year olds here.

When I was growing up in Queens, my sisters went off to scout camp when we were in the process of preparing to move to another house about six blocks away. The owners moved early and we moved in unexpectedly while they were at camp. The bus from camp left them a the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, whence they took a taxi "home". When they arrived, our next door neighbor greeted them by saying "They moved!"
You can image the reaction of the taxi driver. (This was 1963.) Of course my sisters knew where the new house was, so they directed him there.

She lost her dad, and was completely abandoned by her mother. Judging my Mum's behavior, she may be better off without her. I agree, this poor girl needs our prayers.

IIRC, the unofficial record is about 11 sec.
