Murderous London Is Like Old New York
The Telegraph ^ | December 1, 2002 | Janet Daley

Posted on 11/30/2004 5:12:13 PM PST by quidnunc

What is happening to London? Where is the cheerful, relaxed, "swinging" city that I found when I arrived in the 1960s? That was when Chelsea meant the King's Road scene and "debs" (as they were called then) living in what everybody regarded as an enclave of sheltered privilege.

Now there has been a murderous attack, at an early hour of the evening, inside one of those very homes that would be regarded as almost ethereally superior. In Notting Hill, they have grown accustomed to being mugged. That is a neighbourhood which, for all its status, is euphemistically described as "mixed". You have your good restaurants and your local dinner-party circuit, but you pay for your chic address by avoiding the Tube station at night.

Up the road in Holland Park, some friends of mine have installed electronic security gates outside their house, but that did not prevent a laptop computer — containing irreplaceable research — from being stolen from their car in the drive. Over in Islington, they pretty much expect to be burgled.

It goes with the cool urban territory. But somehow Cheyne Row in Chelsea still seemed like another league. If that kind of wealth and influence can't buy you protection from a bestial attack, then who is safe? What chance for the poor on their sink estates who are being terrorised by the local drug gangs, or the middle-class suburban homeowners trying to avoid the routine loss of their possessions in opportunistic break-ins?

-snip-

In a nutshell, if you are unwilling to guard and defend your way of life, you will eventually lose it.

That's right...and if the British don't shortly understand the question they stand to lose their fortunes, lives and freedoms in their final jeopardy.

America (and Canada) take note ; this is what will happen
if you let your society become overrun with immigrants.
What for generations was appreciated , or taken for granted,
will be forever changed and taken . You cannot stop change , it is inevitable , yet for the change to be all downhill, this can be stopped , at least challenged.
Let the immigrants stay now in their own countries .
Help them, if you will , there in their own home countries.
Employ your own countrymen , don't always look for the cheapest way to get things done. The alternative is ,similar to the old idea of class wars , a cultural war , within our own borders. I think all this can be avoided by stomping on the brakes for immigration right now , right away .
Otherwise , what is coming , the inheritance for our children , is anything but rosy....

I heard today on (cough) NPR that up to 2 million Britishers are going to relocate to other nations in the coming year(s) - the flight to better nations has begun leaving Britain to the immigrants and those who cannot get out (or some who won't leave). It is sad sad sad to see. The NPR person said the reason for the flight was property was so expensive it is enabling Britishers to use equity in their homes to "buy" their escape to less expensive nations (Spain was mentioned). Many are now in British enclaves in other nations. Just as many ancestors fled old Britain to the "new world" now they are fleeing to some other parts of "the old world" as well as to the USA, I am sure...to escape the night that comes to that once great land of light.

What this article misses is the absolute correlation between the disappearance of the Right to Bear Arms in the UK and the rise of crime. An armed household means risk to the criminal and the armed man on the street means anyone contemplating mugging must be a bit suicidal. There was a reason Bobbies did not carry guns - they knew the guy stepping out of the Underground with his brief case may well be armed and ready to dispatch a mugger. Bobbies were there for aftermaths, John Q citizen defended his own person and home. Let this be a lesson to anyone with the slightest doubt about what will happen in the US if we do not immediately stop the anti gun lunacy.

Anyone who has been to London, knows why its becoming more violent.

However, the British press are quite left-wing and will never state the real reason.

It's still a great place to visit.
