The crisis in Ukraine also posed a dilemma for the United States. Ukraine has supported the military campaign in Iraq, and contributed 1,600 soldiers to the coalition. Yushchenko had said that if elected, he would withdraw Ukraine's troops.

So the US stands behind the election of someone who wants to abandon support for the Coalition in Iraq?

Sounds like a lose lose situation.

Are you ready to trade freedom for 50,000,000 for 1600 troops in iraq from dictator-president Kuchma?

I don't think so..

You know Hitler was against muslim terrorists but somehow we didn't think it was ok to side with him.. as in this situation with Putin.

Maybe. Then again they may be grateful if we can intervene and help them win the election.
