I'm sort of suprised to this post. I knew a few months ago not to be suprised if the ukranies elect a pro moscow leader.

It easy to jump to voter fraud and intimidation and the what nots. I'm sure that happened on both sides.

The simple fact is russia and the soviet block states have been worse off since the fall of the soviet union. Those that were children then are growing up listening to stories of the "good" ol days where, although they didn't have a choice between bounty toliet paper and brand x toliet paper, they had toliet paper.

The ukranian people elected someone to bring stability back to their country. I seriously doubt that putin had his hands in it.

Just trying to give a different perspective. This wasn't really a big shocker. Those who cared to see it, saw it comming

Thanks, MM for that article. It was most enlightening.

I highly recommend it to others, who want to understand more about the background:

WASHINGTON TURNING SCREWS ON UKRAINE AHEAD OF ELECTION

Sound to me, that more than anything else, the Democrats were in there trying to cause trouble and a rift between Ukraine and the US, because the Ukraine government has been supporting the Iraq war.

Just remember how Jimmy Carter, under the pretext of worrying about human rights, undermined our best friend in the Middle East, the Shah of Iran, fueled the radical Islam revolution and allowed the Ayatollah Khomeini to take over Iran, and giver rise to the resurgence of radical Islam, and turn a country from a friend of the US, to a bitter enemy, and the human rights didn't get any better either.
