I have donated to the Salvation Army directly, in the past. I never did care for the bell ringers outside any stores. So many of their Santas looked so seedy, I always wondered if our donations even got to the Salvation Army.

I wouldn't consider this an anti Christian move on their part...sorry.

Helping the needy out does not require bell ringers, just a little initiative on our part to make a conscience effort to help our fellow man.

Welcome to the real world. I am sure I have given much more money over the years to the SA because of the bell ringers and I am sure so have others. If this is what works it needs to go on. I am sure this is how they raise much of their funds. It gives people the opportunity to help others out which is good for the heart and good for society at large. Most of us would not give to all the causes we give to if we were not periodically reminded to do so. I think the bell ringers help to make Christmas, Christmas. I like them and should actually volunteer to do it myself which I just might.
