I was working the switchboard at the AP the night the Soviets sent tanks into Poland during the Solidarity protests. Very exciting time in the newsroom, and we couldn't get a single phone call through, just bits and pieces from any calls that people could get out.
Now it's coming through on a blackberry. Cool.
Did you happen to read the Last Jihad? There were some very exciting parts of that book that had to do with blackberries... people being hunted by intruders emailing to other people their location, calling in air strikes, that sort of thing.
